Recommended Posts

Hi bros, any comments or sugguestions to input more fish or corals? Just started this new hobby. Using 1ft Nano tank, with live sand, 1 pc live rock and 2 Clownfish. Can i add in more? Filteration is cotton wool, carbon and Seachem matrix. Temp 28C. Thank you in advance for your inputs.

I suggest you get 1-2 more small rocks.. And as for corals, small toadstools, Leathers and zoas should be able to sustain in the tank...

Thanks for the comments bro. Thinking of adding anemone and blue tang. Is it advisable?

No.. These two are not suitable for small tank... The lighting is not enough for anemone and the tank is far far too small for a blue tang... I know you are thinking of adding the 1 inch blue tang but they will outgrow the tank very fast...

I would recommend you look at Gobies and Blennies, they stay small and are quite peaceful..

Good job with the initial set up.

Most Anemone needs intense lighting, efficient filtration and chiller to maintain them and should not be considered in a 1ft set up like yours. If you wanted some corals in your set up, I would suggest some zoanthids or discosomas.

Tangs needs large open swimming space to thrive and are also not recommended for your set-up. Most experts will advise keeping tangs in tank with minimum 3ft swimming space. Also, blue tang can reach 31cm in size! For your set-up, since you already have clownfish that do not require large swimming space and will remain on the mid level of the tank, I would suggest you can consider Stonogobiops gobies which are usually quite small, peaceful, colourful and hardy.

Hope that helps. ;)

Very zen and clean , sleek. Minimalist i like !

Understand that for 1 feet tank, choice of livestock is limited.

But it can be very fulfilling when u crafted your " ocean garden". Use this period to up your husbandry and planning skills before upgrading .

Its takes an advanced aquarist to set up + maintain a good and balanced nano vs a big tank that has so much allowance in terms of water volume.

Do keep posting and update your tank!

Looking foward to your ocean !
