Hi bro and sis,

There are some many kinds of food for reef systems.

Just a question, i am planning to have:

Hammer, bubble, seafan, acans, zoas.

Is there any cheap and good all in 1 food for these?

If no all in 1 food, what other recommendations.

In additions. There are so many kind of pods culture out there.

For these below, are they more for fishes or corals.

Copepods, Rotifer, Amphipods

I am keen on those for corals though.

Thanks a lot.. Still learning.

hammer, bubble, acan and all other LPS can be fed with mysis. forget about all those phytoplankton etc. too small for LPS.. they have feeder tentacles which catch bigger food items like mysis. however, you don't need to feed them. they are photosynthetic. they do benefit from occasional feedings though.

zoas benefit from phytoplankton but not neccesary. you don't need to feed zoas. they are photosynthetic.

most seafans need to be fed. so feed small food items like cyclopeeze.

as for copepods, amphipods. all these are more meant for fish.

Thanks Lemon2,

I use to have a hammer but when i feed it with mysis or seafood mix(my own), it just being carried away by water current.

Didn't actually see it eat though. I tried many times. So how to do it?

As for the pods, saw so many kinds selling by one of our sponsors.

Just a question. If for refugium, which species is easier to keep and multiply.

a healthy hammer coral will stick to mysis or seafood and eat it. it's not necessary to feed them though.

as for pods, contact aqua fauna supplies. i dunno about them.

Bro hahaha,

From my personal experience, having a refugium is a good source of natural food for your tank creatures which includes LPS, culture some macro algae and pods over there. Given time, you should have enough food source derive from your refugium that eventually ends up feeding your LPS, so most likely you dont even have to manually feed your LPS at all.

Treat others the way you wanna be treated...

Thanks Cedric,

But what kind of pods do i add into the refugium for them to multiply?

There are so many kinds out there.

Bro, for me the pods comes with live rocks or corals. The only thing you need is to have a sanctuary place ( a refugium )for these creatures to thrive without much threat of predators such as fishes.

So you can actually go to any LFS and buy a piece of fresh live rock and high chance is you will have live pods instantly. Place them into your refugium, provide some lightings and macro algea and in no time you will have a natural food.

If you want faster introduction, then just go get common live copepods will do.

Treat others the way you wanna be treated...
