Determine the year your house was built and period...

The period that your house falls under is assigned to the center of the luo shu square. This is called the Time Star. It always follows a forward pattern. In the above sample, a house built in 1987 belongs to period 7. The number 7 is then placed at the center of the luo shu magic square. See chart below.

Apartments and Move-In-Dates

The move in date is only used to determine the chart of the property when it is landed property being considered. In the case of apartments, the date that you moved into the apartment is not the correct reference. Instead, you should use the date in which the apartment building was first occupied.

If you are living in a relatively new apartment building (completed say, after 2004) and you are one of the early occupants or original owners, then use the date you moved in. If you are living in an apartment building that was completed between 1984- 2003, but you only moved into the building in 2005. DO NOT use the date you moved in. Your property would be considered a Period 7 building, so use the charts relevant to Period 7, not Period 8.

APPLICATION OF WATER THEORY

Water is fundamental to Feng Shui. It is a prime carrier of energy force in the atmosphere. Since both water and air are living elements essential to the well-being and existence of Mankind, they are very important in Feng Shui practice. Water, along with Wind, forms a bridge between Heaven and Earth. This is part of the reasoning why Feng Shui is represented by the Chinese characters Winds and Water.

Wat carries Qi wherever it flows. If the water stagnates, then the Qi also stagnates. If it rushes past rapidly, then the Qi is dispersed. The accumulation of stagnant Water will create Sha Qi. Water formula suggest that it is best to receive unpolluted, clean, moving and mild water. It also suggests that water should not be flowing too fast because fast-flowing water are purveyors of bad Qi. Water which flows too quickly or in a straight line conducts Sha Qi is undesirable. A slow and meandering water flow is the key to good Feng Shui enhancement. Consequently, it is vital to make sure that the water circulating throughout a building or existing a building or site is properly organized. When orientated correctly, the water in front of the house is responsible for bringing in and accumulating quality Qi.

General Water principles talk about correct water flow, correct entrance and correct exit directions of water. Water is also a symbol of wealth and prosperity. When the alignments of energy lines are conductive to auspicious Feng Shui, other benefits also accrue. Just as Water plays a key role in our physical existence, so does it in our application of Feng Shui. Water may be one of the greatest sources of beneficial Qi, but excessive usage can also drown out its positive effects. Therefore it is vital to keep in mind that the use of water for creating good Feng shui should reflect the natural balance and harmony within the surrounding environment.

Water theories apply to the external environment. When oriented correctly, water and all the various , manifestations of water within view of the main door or entrance attract good fortune. Therefore, we have to observe the following carefully:

- External environment of a build or house.

- Look out for actual water, eg drains, river, reservoirs and seas.

- Determine the flow, cleanliness, and speed of water.

- In the absence of actual water, roads, highways, car parks and open ground act as substitutes.

- Investigate the entry point of incoming water if any.

- Inspect the exist direction of outgoing water flow.

- Check whether the traffic flow is Yin or Yang

- Observe the terrain and gradient of the roads.

Finally, we will apply the various water theories that map water flows by charting which direction they flow in order to tap the beneficial Water Qi.

TYPES OF WATER SOURCES

Water can be represented in several forms:

Natural Water

In the landscapes and terrain of the Earth, natural water occurs everywhere - as seas and oceans, rivers and streams, lakes and reservoirs, waterfalls, etc.

In the Feng Shui context, actual water is more superior and significant as compared to artificial water.

Artificial Water

In a home where natural water is missing, it is possible to create artificial water. Hence fountains, ponds and swimming pools are all man-made manifestations of water which are perfectly capable of creating auspicious energy flows.

Virtual Water

There are several different approaches in water theories. In a modern city, crossroads, T-junctions and highways are virtual water points. Water points refer to areas where Qi accumulates. Therefore, positioning of buildings in relation to the water point is vital. It is possible to create wealth luck when the best orientation is established.
