Is there current in my tank??Help needed..

Hi,K anyone help me?? i suspect my tank got current inside cos my test pen light up when I put it inside my tank. However, I feel nothing when I put in my finger.I am currently using a submergible pump. K anyone help me??

No...I did plug out the switch for the light and there was still current present in my tank and funny thing is i dun feel a thing when i put in my finger le...Hmmm....

Dun think will mati so fast... I once got electric current in my tank... but the fishes never mati... I think should be the pump...try it in a pail see if it give off electricity too anot...

Current in the tank will not cause fish to mati. Becoz they aren't grounded, there is no way electrical current can pass thru them... only the fish keeper mati lah...

bro for me i tin no pro la my frenz want also like that test test got current but when put in the finger got nothing maybe wat u can do now is try to see where the current come from maybe from the light try seeking all the metal parts

that time, for my gold fish tank, i use an ocrean ferr powerhead to power my under gravel filter, than one day, i put my hand in to do some thing, i felt like got some electricity touch my hand.(i can only feel it at the surface when my hand is entering the water at that time, once in the water got no feeling, but that is not the point). but nothing happen to the fish, they just behaving normal.

later i change my powerhead to TOM powerhead, than everything went normal. no more electricity. this is my story

Hi !

Fish do not mati .....as stray voltage current is small....but we never be so sure...especially we talk about electrical ietms.

1. Electrical current inside fish tank could be caused by stray voltage current or electrical earthing leakage.

2. Options - solve root cause by isolating item by item.......then rectify the problem accordingly...if it is just by replacing to a proper PSB approved 3-pin plug, it will be simple and cheap.

3. Otherwise, some people recommend to use titanium ground probe to "earth" the fish tank....no more electrical "shock" anymore. May cost about $30, I think.

Personally, I prefer to solve root cause....dun want to become a electrical path myself if more serious current leakage occurs.

This will stress the fish inside your tank. If the fish is strong enough then this should be alright, else.....

Try to earth your tank water.

There are some earth probe design for marine aquarium which is made by titanium.
