Coral Farm has the best live rock,

but it comes with a premium price as well

iwarna's liverock is good as well.

varyign sizes from small, medium to very big. i got the very large ones to scape my tank and it's so easy.

u can request for cured ones or uncured ones if you decide to cure yourself.

watch out for pests though. the only pestless rocks are from CF.

GO used to sell nicely shaped rocks fully covered in coralline. I'm not sure if they still have them though...

those are usually fist sized and all come in the same round spherical shape.

i don't think it' meant for scaping coz it's too small and all same shape. probably used for seeding tank or for decorative purposes.

coz they do look really beautiful. they are selling the rock as coraline algae and not liverock i guess.

Not always true. I ever bought LR from CF and ended up with aiptasia outbreak.

well from what i know coral farm is usually pest free as in crabs, worms, mantis etc. coz they utilise the seawater drip method which flushes out these critters.

aiptasia can live in this drip if it's lucky enough to be anchored in the part where it has contact with water.

The good thing about CF is their LR is cover with coraline and comes in big and nice shapes for scaping. Only thing is their price sibeh swee.

couldn't agree more.

sun/kill your rocks, then see your tank with coraline algae later.

my advice is to get the cheapest rock possible and kill it all.

No live rock at Coral Farm yesterday So bought from Iwarna - good selection but comes with freeloader crabs!

it's like that...

try to kill as many crabs as you can.

actually i don't agree on getting the cheapest liverock from just anywhere. feel the rock. if it's very heavy for it's size,try getting lighter more porous ones.

dense live rocks are not as good as porous ones.

can use a fork or chopstick to dig them out^^

Get a small glass jar, e.g. essence of chicken or baby food. Place a little bit of market prawn in it and place it on the sand leaning against the rock so that the crab can crawl into the top. The crab falls in and cant climb out the smooth glass surface.

I fully agree! I got 100kg+ of live rock 4 years ago when I started from a reefer who decom for $200.

Yes its good to buy live rock from fellow reefers but this does not guarantee that the rock is pest free. For my first tank 5 years ago I bought live rock from a reefer who was decomm his tank and those rocks came with a couple of crabs too.
