Dear All,

I had a basic question as i can't find a definite answer from the internet.

My current method for water change :

I pre-mix the sea salt into water and stored in 2 large water bag (without aeration).

This is to save time/trouble for my weekly water change as 2 bag can last me one month plus.

Which is to say, i only need to mix sea salt with water monthly.

I would like to check whether this current method is ok?

Will the mineral in the water "die" off after time and cause my weekly water change to be useless/ineffective?

Thanks.

Poh

Bro Poh,

You need to at least circulate your pre-mixed sea water, using a small pump will be sufficient. Aeration will be an added advantage. You may use a timer control to turn on/off your circulating pump and air-pump in a 1 hrs on follow by 1 hours off pattern.

I dont think there will be any loss of traced element while storing in the container, iodine being exception.

Hope my view point helps.

Cheers :)

I would like to check whether this current method is ok? Yes it is possible, use a small pump to circulate the water. if not, i think its will be fine since its "sterile" unlike NSW. just stir the water abit before water change.

Will the mineral in the water "die" off after time and cause my weekly water change to be useless/ineffective? no it wont. it is ok, or perhaps like what cedric suggested, iodine might go away so dose it to supplement it after you do your waterchange. i'm currently going to set up my auto water change system, will leave the premixed water in a big pail too. i dun see any problem being like this.

If a man could beat his own fantasy. Then to only breed in captivity. Then its pointless.

Genesis 1:20

And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that has life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moves, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

Now i change method for testing.
