Can Bartlet Anthias survive on single feedings?

Been admiring the color & beauty of Bartlet Anthias for some time. Am told from various sources that Anthias in general require multiple feedings per day. As I work long hours, it is just not possible to meet this feeding requirement. Are there any hobbyist who keep Bartlet Anthias who managed to keep them alive with single feeding per day care to share their experience?

best not to. at least minimum 2 feedings a day.

anthias feed like, 24/7 in the wild. it's best to feed them many small meals a day.

your anthias colour will not hold if you do 1 feeding a day, with 1 kind of food. the best way is to feed a varied diet, frequently. cyclopeeze is the best in bringing out and retaining colours.

Did that before and the anthias was not doing well, with it's head larger than it's body ( starving). Begun to feed it more often and now back to normal round self.

Try feeding once in the morning and once in the evening and maybe more on weekends. Doing this for the past year and quite OK.

Need to see if color is maintained, will try cyclopeeze like suggested and see if color is better.

Maintaining water quality is a problem with such frequent feedings. If can get them on pellets is the best but they only take moving food, once it touches the ground, they tend to ignore them.

Need a good CuC to keep the tank cleaned.

you dont have to compromise water quality to keep the anthias. feed very small feedings frequently, small enough for the anthias to consume everything. that way you will reduce the amount of waste produce by over-feeding.

Guess I will have to forget about keeping Bartlett Anthias. I can't even spare the time in the morning to feed fishes. Thanks to you & all others who have shared their experiences to help me make an informed decision, i.e., to give up on the idea of rearing Anthias.

No compromise just more work in maintaining it. Small feeds are OK if you can do it more frequently but when you do it once or twice a day you need to spend the time to ensure all will get a chance to feed. Slower ( non dominant) ones will tend to miss out is small feedings, so sometime tend to flood the tank to allow all to get the chance to feed. Must try Cyclopeeze ..is it the frozen type or the freeze dried type? Difficult to find the frozen type. Currently feeding NLS pellets, mysis, daphnias and brine shrimps will see if can add on more variety.

Bought frozen cyclopeeze from iWarna yesterday.

Very ex.. and tried it on last night.

They look like daphnias, very fine pieces. Did not seem to create much feeding interest among the anthias ( in particular the purple queens...they could sense it was food but......) but the sunburst liked it.

Will see if the color improves over time.

Thanks for the tip. Live Brine shrimps are more of a treat(weekly purchase)than staple food. They survive more on pellets and mysis/daphnia daily.

Hope the color becomes more vibrant.

cheers

when you feed cyclopeeze you will see the anthias opening their mouths every few seconds. they are eating it. don't worry, it will be able to see it. anthias are highly specialised planktivores. they do this for a living.
