my budget around $500 like that, don't mind having second hand as well. Cos i have nv used a chiller before although i have been in this hobby one year plus. Really gd thks to all the bro out there.

the hailea price for the HC300 is lower than your budget.....and still can buy a few corals

With your budget, can even get a new Hailea 500, but no spare to buy corals though. Think price diff not a lot. IMO, always good to get a one-step oversize chiller and also in case you upgrade to a 4 ft, but still up to you. Personal preference. Hailea is quite good, and it comes with a air filter front screen like our aircon too, think Artica doesn't have. But i think their built-in thermostat is not very accurate, need adjustment which can be done using the botton menu, but i will always suggest to get an external temp sensor which will save you elect bills and less heat output as the the chiller will kick in much less often.

Get 1 model up instead of the one you need. Reason being there are months where hot weather is the norm and when that happen, you do not want your chiller to be over-worked because it is under powered in the 1st place. And get 1 with an external temperature probe for a more accurate temperature reading. Chiller with internal temperature probe only cool the water in the chiller compartment so if the water in that compartment is cooler than the water in your tank, it will switch off earlier and then switch on back again after a few minute.
