Hi brother and sister,

Anyone has any experience to share on hooking up an addition temperature sensor probe to a chiller (Resun)? The reason is due to excessive kicking in and I believe it is the sensor probe issue rather than the thermostat. If you have tried before, appreciate your sharing.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Rais.....

Not quite sure what do you refer as addition temperature sensor probe....

There are 2 ways to do it.....

1. Get a NTC temperature of 5K value which is the one use for Resun (resun cl-650), or you get a replacement from resun distributor.

--> You will need to unplug the connector located at the controller board and mount your new one.

2. Use an external temperature controller....

--> This is more complicate which require more wiring. A lot of reefer done it and should have some diagram on how to go about it....

Thanks.

Both ways also possible.....

Tank : 3 x 2 x 1.8 ( setup end Feb 2014 ) --> 4 x 2 x 1.8 ( setup early Nov 2016 )
Skimmer : Bubble Magus NAC6 --> Bubble Magus Curve 7
Return pump : Jebao 10000l/h ( down in 17th December 2014 ) --> Jebao DC-12000 ( 19th December 2014 )
Compressor drop-in coil
Wavemaker : Tunze 6105 x 1
Lights : Modular based DIY LED light x 4

Hi Oceanviper,

You are right. I am intending to unplug the current in-build temperature sensor probe and replace with an external probe. Is it possible to just bypass that in-build temperature sensor only ?

I intend to go the first way though. Do you happen to know any resun distributors that carry the NTC temperature of 5K value? Any idea how much that cost too : ) ?

TIA

Hi bro....

The Resun distributor selling it at SGD50 per pc....

Based on that price, my advice is to get an external temperature controller which is more lasting.

Thanks.

Hey bro,

Yup, gotten a used set from a fellow reefer here. Done some modification and unit performs as expected. No more frequent kicking in and out (",) . Now it only kicks in and out in terms of hrs not mins.

Thks
