This is my 1 year plus reef(converted to SPS dominated few months back).

Tank spec- 3by 1/1/2 by 2

Lighting- Iwasaki 400watt 6500k MH

Chiller- CL-650(1/4HP)

Skimmer- Weipro 2013

Filteration- running with a sump and also a canister

Other equips- Tunze 6060 and a powerhead rated at 900l/h

400w 6500k alone? You have to add some blue bulbs to counter the strong yellow-green of the sakis. That should give you a pleasing whiter look.

How are you keeping up with the calcium uptake?

Yup using 6500k alone, able to bear with the yellowish effect given out, in fact I quite like the yellowish green colour. Give me sometime and i might supplement the tank with some blue actinic of maybe blue MH bulb.

As ofr calcium uptake, so far so good, able to keep up with buffering. But will intend to get my ca reactor soon.

Thanks but i never propergate them... Actuially there are 5 different colonies in the pic

try rebor*, sometimes they bring in nice ones... Anyway if you head down nwo to reef wor**, you might be able to get orange zoos

Yup but that will eb after sometime. I prefer to let my sps be in the growing frenzy mood first then later i concentrate on their colour

I thought sps under 6500k for long will tend to loose original color?Must combine with some other bulb like radium to help acro retain color..

IMo under 6500k they will look abit dull and purple c colonies will nv look nice under them. Just like mine Radium are used to cover the yellow deadly sakis ray and also bring out the color of the acro but they promote little to no growth
