SRC Member kksg2000 Posted June 11, 2010 SRC Member Share Posted June 11, 2010 Hi, I just brought a new Crystal Pro 3 stages DI. However the TDS readings for "IN" is 31PPM and "OUT" is 29PPM... shouldn't i be getting around 0 for a new set? Is 29 PPM good compared to distilled water? SRC Member kksg2000 Posted June 11, 2010 Author SRC Member Share Posted June 11, 2010 the supplied TDS do not have a calibration option.. I am not given the pen TDS but a rect box TDS device which both ends connect to the DI tubes.
fishiee
the resin cartriage may be loose (if it moves when you shake the canister, its loose), or it may just be that you are passing the water through too quickly. a new 3 stage DI resin filter should be able to bring the TDS level down to 0. just of of interest, how can your 'in' TDS be 31 ppm? Singapore tap water is never that 'ion-free'
SRC Member kksg2000 Posted June 11, 2010 Author SRC Member Share Posted June 11, 2010 the TDS is designed such that i can only connect the "IN" to the 2nd filter which the water had already passed/filtered by the 1st and 2nd filter.
SRC Member kksg2000 Posted June 11, 2010 Author SRC Member Share Posted June 11, 2010 is 20-30 ppm good enough?
vurbul
Nope not good enough. Try really slow flow. I can only get 000ppm if my flow is really slow. Say it takes 45mins to filter 12l of water. Thats like half of the big blue pail.
SRC Member Goondoo Posted June 11, 2010 SRC Member Share Posted June 11, 2010 As mentioned above, I too suspect your meter to be faulty if that is the case. Incoming is already lower than SG standard.... I am collecting mine tomorrow, and was told it doesn't comes with a TDS meter anyone can loan me one to test? SRC Member kksg2000 Posted June 11, 2010 Author SRC Member Share Posted June 11, 2010 I found out the reasons. I came to notice a small note on the equipment box "No black connection" ... and finally i discovered there are missing rubber stoppers which hold the cartriage tight in the canister. I inserted cut my filter sponge and fit into the canister to hold the cartriage tight and finally i got 0 ppm. Apparently, the LSF which sold me the DI wasn't honest enough to tell me the missing rubber stoppers. Make sure you check yours carefully when you got it. You have to buy a TDS, or else how are you going to test.... do not assume the new unit gives you 0 PPM ... at least you see in my case. Mine came with a TSD.
