My Weipro skimmer is not foaming well

I'm using Weipro 5000 and Eheim 1260.....and the Eheim 1260 is much stronger than the Weipro 5000....

I experimented over the weekend to use a 1260 to drive a 2014 skimmer. Pump next to skimmer, too powerful and cannot manage the flow.

Changed to a China-brand pump at stated 2800l/hr (believe real output much less than stated rate (ard 2000l/hr ?). Cheap pump (ard $20) with me 2 years already. Works fine with skimmer output adjust knob set to mid-point.

Find it really a waste to use 1260 and tee-off to drive a skimmer.

no choice cos i bought an atman rated at 1400 (i think) and is so darn noisy, i returned it the same day. decided not to go with china pumps anymore cos it is either noisy, unreliable or incorrect rating. i hate to have a pump giving out noise, esp when you are running it 24x7. arrghhhh gets on my nerves.

no wonder china brands are so much cheaper compared to eheim.

what about sicce extrema? does it pump according to its rating?

I had exactly the same problem as yuo. Bought a Atman 105, but it was VERY noisy. First time bought Atman pump. Not sure if it is that paticular one that is faulty. Even in my cabinet, my whole house can hear the noise. Returned it the next day.

As I had used this brand ('Ri Sheng' think correct spelling) before it is very quiet and 2 years old now. Now doing the job nicely with my 2014. The fans humming are louded than all my pumps.

Since the pump is next to the skimmer, don't think head water pressure is significant.

Guys, this is off-topic, but do you use your skimmers 24/7? Except when emptying and cleaning the collection cup? If so, what's the rationale behind it? Thanks.

why would you want to switch off your skimmer? unless it is so efficient until you are skimming nothing for hours, then maybe you can consider doing it but on off on off very troublesome right? juz let it run!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Change it to a lower rated pump sized..a bit over rated is okiee..but yours is too much................

i'm using a maxijet 1200 (1100 l/h) for my weipro2011.

works like a charm.

tune the water level to where the collection cup meets the body.

problem with weipro is that u need to monitor the water level in the skimmer and tune regularly. things like feedings, adding of addictives, evaporation of tank water etc will affect the skimmer water level n performance.

after a while, i'm sure you'll know what works for your skimmer.

oh ya, check all skimmer connections/joints for leakage too.

Well me using weipro 2011 too. But not venturi anymore. Had change my pump into a DIY needlewheel then add air tube at the water inlet. Working well but not very stable i think.
