Since the air has been cleared, I am continuing my thread here.

For those who are unfamiliar with my tank, you can check out the specs in my signature below and my previous tank thread http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=82642&st=0

Let me start with the swopping of LEDs on the MaxSpect.

One of the selling points of MaxSpect G2 (Generation 2) is that the LEDs can be easily swopped.

I have obtained 2 spare blue LEDs (Thanks to Dr Evil) and decided to swop out two of the white ones with these blue LEDs.

I am just going to give a brief summary on how the swop can be done.

First: Pic of the spare LEDs and the heat transfer gel.

To get to the LEDs, you just need to turn over the lightset with the LED side facing up. Then

1) remove the sliding bracket from the lightset. (remove the 2 long screws on the side)

2) remove the side panel (remove 2 short screws on the side)

3) slide out the plastic cover

4) lift up the aluminium plate covering the LEDs after you have remove the 6 small screws.

This is what you will see next.

next, just remove the small white connector of the LED you wish to remove.

Then unscrew the 2 small screws beside the LED disc.

remove the LED fixture.

place the heat transfer gel on the back of the new LED.

place it in position and refix the 2 screws.

reconnect the white connector.

done :) I completed swopping 2 LEDs in less than 20 mins ... hehe

edit: BTW, the blue LED is transparent and the white LED is yellowish when not powered.

honestly, I was rather disappointed with the result.... cause I swop 2 of the front white LED with blue ones but totally cannot see the difference visually.

Might need to swop the other 4 violent ones with blue ones.

kiko, the one I wanted to try is red LED.

But if the blue LED is not strong enough, then I might not even have the slots for red LEDs.

Yeah. Dun need Photoshop lah. Just natural is best.

I'm also trying to find some time to take pictures of my latest acquisitions.

Been too busy. Just now spent an hour fragging some corals and sticking them on pebbles and frag plugs.

Will try to take and share pic of the plate tmrw.

In the mean time, show more corals pic pls.

I like the Yuma too. I got myself one today. Light blue coloured. Yummy. Hope it last. I dun have luck with yumas.

The placement mine looks promising. Low flow with moderate light. The flow is so low that I think it's a relatively dead spot.

Just checked before lights off, Yuma settled down and in the midst of opening up.

Btw: haven't seen Peter for awhile k. He must be really busy?!?
