SRC Member oceanviper Posted May 26, 2010 SRC Member Share Posted May 26, 2010 Hi bro.... I do noticed that many use the UV lights with the inlet and outlet for water to flow in & out..... I'm planning to place my UV light inside my sump tank ( summersible type ). My guessing is that this UV will also kill my bacteria inside my sump tank leaving in the bacteria home or biohome. Or should i cover one side with some reflectors to prevent the lights shine to my bacteria home compartment? Can anyone agree with my assumption above? Or anyone had use a summersible UV Light inside their sump tank which will also shine into the bacteria compartment? Thanks. Is it enclosed type or just light bulb itself? I know there is UV light alone selling in LFS but also recommended locate them in enclosed compartment.. It is harmful to our eye sight in long term... take note ya.... Cheers and Happy Reefing.. Cheers and Happy Reefing.... Cheers and Happy Reefing.... Hi bro.... My UV are those with the light bulb and not enclose.... Is also summersible type. Which why i place it inside my sump tank. The UV light is running on timer switch which only turn ON in the middle of the night(where everyone is asleep). My main concern are good bacteria, will they eliminated by the UV lights? Thanks. UV kills everything that is exposed to it. Even your eyes... Better check if UV will affect the silicon. Hi bro... I doubt that the UV lights will have any impact to the silicon..... Anyway thanks for your advice.
