Hi all,

Just installed this CR one week ago. While is running, notice that there is 'sand-shake' sound so took out the pump for maintainance but it look clean to me. After a few days, the 'sand-shake' sound seem to lessen but still persists at times.

Now the pump seem to produce a 'humming' sound and is quite noisy when i open the cabinet door. The media in the chamber seem to 'dance' like other CR. When i touch the cr with my hands, i can feel the "WARM" chamber. Is this normal? My sump tank evaporation level seem to increase quite alot ever since i installed the CR.

Btwn the cr water input is tee-off from the return pump which is shared with the chiller.

Pls advice....

Hi bro,

I try my best to answer from my limited understanding of your situation.

1) Fluidizing CR will produce noise time to time both inside the chamber and by the pump

2) Noise produce by the pump should be from air bubbles

3) Noise produce within the chamber should be from the media fluidizing

4) If media were to find its way to the pump, it will create a louder grinding noise that may cause impellor to break, stuck or produce additional heat due to friction between media, impellor and pump chamber

5) In order to prevent pt4 from happening, also ensure that your media are correct size and at correct level

6) Media level too high will cause media to be suck into pump

7) Most fluidizing CR recommends ROWA C+ due to its bead shape that will not create as much damage

Hi bro,

Thank you for the information. Yap, i using rowa c..Based on ur pt.4, the CR chamber has a indicater to display the max level of media that it can hold, which means i switch off the CR, add in the media not more than the indicater, and switch on the cr to run the media right? Or is it the other way around?

Hi bro,

I am a typical Singaporean (Kiasu + Kiasi) thus will go for the latter, which means to have to media fluidizing below the max indicated mark.

Wah like that means i have to waste some of the media...hmm...go back and try it out. Thanks bro!

To share, I fill up the media to the indicator line when not running.

When it starts, the media just "dance" above the line...so far has been ok for the pump.

Btwn does ur cr look as 'cloudy' as mine? Cos my the baseline for my cos is 1 min abt 30 drops of CO2. I mean that is very minimal right? At the effluent drop is abt 1 drop for every 2 sec. I have not measure the dkh yet as the current sera dkh is only showing 5dkh?? Think i might need to get another test kit like api liao..

Hi Bro,

Forget to reply you yesterday, i check and feel my deltec CR but it doesnt give out the heat on the body which you mention ?

Hmm.. funny ? Since it is still under warrenty you might want to call up RD to check with them and they should be able to advice you.

Hi Bro, yap i did email them. They said it could be due to the excess CO2 that is building up within the reactor.....

Switch off the CO2 since yesterday, now water within the chamber seems clearer but the most significant thing is the 'sandshake' sound is gone and pump seems to be more quiet. So i guess could be the excess CO2 that is building within the CR. CR's chamber still feel warm though....

Just Switch on the CO2 again, now i tune it down to abt 15 drops of CO2 per min. Will continue to monitor and update.....
