Just my first coral, star polyps, this afternoon.

Acclimed and placed it in a quarantine tank after i got home. When i turned on the lights i saw some claws hastily retracting into a crevice.. is a freshwater dip advisable?

some parts of the piece has strands of brown stuff growing on it. It resembles brown human hair, should i remove those as well?

some pics of the brown algae (i think) below for ref.

You can remove the algae too.. or lets your tank algae eater consume it...

bro, just do note that after FW dip the star polyps will not open for awhile due to stress.. most of them may take up to 1 week to open up again... just thot i let you know first before you get an unecessary shock.. =]

Did a dip and got the bugger out, it looks cleaner too.

it seems like it, before that a few polyps were opening but they're all closed now. I've put it under some flow and lights, hope it'd open soon.

Thanks for the heads up!
