Removing sand from Tank

Going to clear out my Tank this weekend for a house move, can anyone advise what would be the best way to get the sand out of the tank? My DSB is about 4 inches.

I used hand and slowly remove the sand. Careful not to scratch the glass surface.

Back breakingly 1 scoop after another, no 2 ways about it.

Not sure if you're going to be moving the tank and re-setting up the tank too. Wouldn't suggest reusing the sand, or if really want to, must wash thoroghly.

No way to avoid back breaking work.

Then the last bits of sand how to remove?

Was thinking of using hose to siphon the sand out with the water.

My reservist unit is PDF, alot of experience in digging. dun wanna play sand in civillian.

Last bits have to mop it out.

Siphoning sand using hose will mean that you will need some form of sand trap to separate sand from water. Water goes into drainage and sand into dustbins. If sand goes into drainage, it will be a disaster waiting to happen.

Fastest n most efficient way I've tried.

Since there's water in it dun waste it. Can use hose to suck out sand while there's still water in it into a strainer (big 1 if can find)

till no water Liao,get a plastic shover to scope it up into a strainer also coz by time strainer full,water in it also more or less drain away Liao. Definitely faster than your hand.

i usually wait a few days for the water to evaporate off then use masking tape and pick up all the remaining little loose sand.

At time due to some people can't wait n wanna get it clear once n for all when mood is good they'll normally do it on same day n as for that little bit of sand I think most people wun mind draining it of via using hose to vacuum it...

Well basically i will be transferring and reusing the sand as well so have to drain out into pails, i have about 5 pails so siphon out the sand into the pails with water, let the sand settle and pour out the water. Before that stir the sand in the existing water in the tank to clean the sand abit first. Will try that tomorrow. Today have to get the corals, rocks and fish out.

Redoing n rescaping may be tired but also can be very excited coz due to introducing new thing in it n changing to new concept.

Well decided to throw away most of the sand, will only keep just enough for my 2 feet tank which will be linked to the main tank sump.

Carrying over 100kg of sand up 3 floors is no joke.

Will need a crash course on bare bottom tank essentials.

Old place there is a lift, new place is those old walk up apartments. Rocks,corals and fishes almost killed me.

Got SGbros to move the tank this wed.
