Return piping

Would like to get some suggestions on how do you position your return pipe output in the main tank for better water flow or turbulence... Do you T the output to 2 sides of the tank and point the output flow to meet somewhere in the middle? Or just 1 output flow on top/middle/bottom of main tank's water level?

I prefer T output to 2 side middle or from 2 side left/right.. 1 output seem like a bit wasted...

that will be good but provided your return pump is strong enough to do the job otherwise it'll either lose or will not have enough pressure.

Overall,it depend on how big your tank is n how powerful your pump is.

Some1 doesn't 1 2 do anything find an excuse,some1 1 2 do something find a mean!

Tks for replying. Got a 2ft cube with eheim 1260 return direct to tank. I think its strong enough to T the output. But not sure how to best position the 2 outputs.

Ya, eheim 1260 spec as follow:

Pump output approx I/h : 2400

Del.head approx Hmax m :3.7

Power consumption W : 65

On Intake Side : 28/G3/4"

On Pressure Side : 18/G3/4"

Dimensions HxWxD mm : 161 x 218 x 116 .

For 2ft cube should be good enough for split output with eheim 1260..

Pls find below the eheim series pump manual...

Bro I'm using a nano cube tank and there are 2 outflows at each side and works well. One pump that i'm using for chiller has a slower return rate because of distance piping loss. I compliment it with a wavemaker.

Above all would be good for you to judge the circulation rate of your water. I'm using 28G with 2 Eheim compact 1000 pumps

100L against 2X1000L p/hr with avg of 20 Cycles in an hour.

Forget to add. Not only those that I've mentioned. It's also important that u position the pipe in a way where zero bubble is created.

In another word so long water gush out n u dun hear a single sound,there shouldn't be any bubble form.

That's to prevent extra evaporation of sea water n also not to spoil your electrical appliances n furniture around it due to corrosion from the salt particles.

I have tried setting up the eheim 1260 to output direct to tank split to 2 sides, then put my hand at each output and unfortunately, the pressure in both is not strong, quite weak actually (though the overflow became really fast). So end up directing the output to 1 side only. The other side of the tank has output from chiller using another 1260.

That's due to when pressure being push out of piping,it hits the wall when comes to the T junction. The T junction hence reduce the pressure n FYI,pressure from both the side will not be the same. In another words if to measure via pressure gauge,u will find actually 1 side is stronger than the other. N this is common.
