Senior Reefer yikai Posted May 29, 2011 Author Senior Reefer Share Posted May 29, 2011 My new favourite fish! I've been waiting donkey long time for this. it's the tuxedo damselfish, aka Chrysiptera tricincta! Singapore's first debut appearance for the fish. i fell in love with it the first time i saw it in david saxby's tank. for those who say it's a $3 damsel....well....pity. it's extroadinarily beautiful and peaceful. the fins are elegant and an overall very rare and gorgeous fish. M3MORPH still have somemore for sale at $23 each.
Senior Reefer yikai Posted May 29, 2011 Author Senior Reefer Share Posted May 29, 2011 i also bought 2 of these very beautiful and rare damsels from M3MORPH. it's the "springeri" damsel. the black and electric sapphire blue mottled appearance is super unique and very beautiful. M3 still have 2 for $6 each. i don't have photos of my own. hard to photograph, but these are from the net.
Senior Reefer yikai Posted May 29, 2011 Author Senior Reefer Share Posted May 29, 2011 rare does not always mean expensive. the above 2 damsels are one of the most uncommon in Singapore. although common in other parts of the world. they are peaceful and will brighten up any reef tank. and they are cheap! Senior Reefer yikai Posted August 6, 2011 Author Senior Reefer Share Posted August 6, 2011 don't really have time to update my tank thread via video. SPS and corals are very healthy though. but i did find this fish today. It's the yellow-masked angelfish that i've been waiting for, for 3 years. it's very very rare. this is the 2nd piece that came after a long hiatus. the 1st piece came 3 weeks ago. it's a female. the problem with them is their difficulty. not in feeding or cyanide issues, but in collection. they are deepwater and almost always arrive in bad condition such as decompression problems or sores and break-down issues. this female is in pretty alright condition, except for a little damage on the ana| fin and the mouth has superficial damage. nothing i can do except hope that the condition improves and does not deteriorate. it's extremely rare but very cheap and difficult. fingers crossed.
