nuj244
I got a true percula and a GBTA from CF. How to make the clown dwell in GBTA? Is the True Percula from CF tank-breed that it is not used to anemone? Or I get a wrong type of anemone for the percula.
SRC Member poomoon Posted April 30, 2010 SRC Member Share Posted April 30, 2010 I got a true percula and a GBTA from CF. How to make the clown dwell in GBTA? Is the True Percula from CF tank-breed that it is not used to anemone? Or I get a wrong type of anemone for the percula. hey bro, it may really take time, or may even never happen at all, so this needs your patience. some do the guiding - when resting or sleeping at night, try guiding the clown towards the anemone. there are those who recommended putting a fake clown (those plastic food clips) and put it beside the anemone to give the clown an idea. for my case, i used technology my clown pair has not been giving much attention to my BTA for about a month, so what i tried was i played a video from youtube of a clown hosting a BTA on my iphone and just held that against the glass. my clowns would keep on "watching the video", coming a little closer at times. did this once a day for about a week. by then, one of the clowns started to test, like "smelling" the BTA tentacles. few days later sticking his face into it. then in a week, already swimming in the tentacles like crazy with a new playmate. the second clown took a little longer, but also started hosting about another week later. good luck ! it's just fun to watch this very special symbiotic relationship that developed. SRC Member comycus Posted April 30, 2010 SRC Member Share Posted April 30, 2010 Can do as Poomoon suggested. However, do note that true percs don't normally host bta in the wild. Pretty much depends on luck sometimes I guess. Quote My old 3ft

SRC Member iskay Posted April 30, 2010 SRC Member Share Posted April 30, 2010 Different species of clowns prefer different hosts. All 3 reference sites I have indicates that A. Percula does not normally host on Entacmaea quadricolor. But you'll do no harm trying the methods suggested. My 2 percs hosts on the water return outlet. Senior Reefer yikai Posted April 30, 2010 Senior Reefer Share Posted April 30, 2010 While it is true that A. perculas don't host naturally on bubble tip anemones, BTAs are one of the most widely accepted anemones for any clown species in the home aquaria. Almost all percs will host a BTA given time. note the usage of the word almost my captive bred pair took notice of the BTA only after 3 weeks. so give them some time. nuj244
after almost 3 months (since I started this topic), my true percula still ignore my GBTA. Can you recommend another type of clown that will take refuge in GBTA that is also compatible with true percula? Or maybe dispose my percula and get another type. I am looking at something not getting very big.
dnsfpl
believe or not find a picture with similar to clown and anemone, color print and water proof it place it near your clown, it might work good luck

Get a big picture of a clown playing in the anemone and stick that picture near the anemone. The clown fish will see the picture and follow by instinct. SRC Member poh34 Posted December 2, 2011 SRC Member Share Posted December 2, 2011 Bro & Sis I am glad to share my method of letting clownfish dwell into anemone. Tried for about 1 month using all kind of method from net. putting pictures, showing video from you tube and catching the clown with net and force it to stay with anemone for some time. All these failed. Until i got a true perc (which is already used to BTA) from SRC bro yesterday. At night, it already used the anemone. Today, it had influence other clownfishes and they all dwell into anemone. Sucess! Give it a try. The only con is that you have one more clown to enjoy,. Cherlolo
I got a Sebae Anemone after reading that percula sometimes host in them but for mine, no luck until I got a GBTA, it host it within the same day. Great! but next morning, the GBTA hid at the back of the tank where the clowns can't reach..dame.. ...so bottom line, you need some luck and sh*t load of patience in this game of matching. Clowns will host BTA, question is when. Patience patience patience... P.S. Please don't abandon your clowns or anemone just because they don't get together. No difference in abandoning your pet dog or cat or whatever you have.
