My zoas open pretty easily even when given a glimpse of sunlight. Did you check your water parameters? salinity, nitrate etc? Do you have any other corals in your tank? and fishes? sorry for asking so many questions back Quote Eqpt: Deltec MCE 600, Tunze 6055 with Tunze 7091 controller, Artica 1/15 HP chiller, AquaIllumination Sol Blue LED Light System 2011 resolution : Do it simpler, better and in an easier way! Also when u say it didn't seem to open up, does it mean all the polyps are closed or some of the polyps seems to open a bit? If the zoa polyps were open when u bought it at the farm, you could take it out of your tank and dip it in a bucket of tap water. Shake it in the water for 30s at most and you will see a lot of things falling out of the rock. After that put the zoa rock back into your tank and wait to see if it opens up in the next 2 days. If the zoa polyps were not open when u bought it at the farm, then take the zoa rock out of the tank and smell it. If it stinks, most probably you will have to throw it away. The main reasons why zoas do not open are: 1) Stress due to transportation from where it is harvested to Singapore 2) Die offs on the zoa rock which fouls up the rock 3) Nudi/pest attack on the zoa rock 4) Zoa pox Quote My Setup: 3x2x2 tank with IOS Equipment List: Chiller: Artica 1/5HP Chiller Pump: Sicce 4000 Return Pump: OR3500 Skimmer: Deltec APF600 Wavemaker: Tunze Wavebox/2x Hydor K2/SCWD wavemaker Lights: DElighting 2x150W MH + 2x 39W T5 Atinic FR: Skimz FR Pump: Atman AT-104 Tubby ATO, Kalkweisser Reactor with magnetic stirrer. fishyboy
hi guys good morning, thanks for the reply. I checked the salnity its fine, i do hav some fishes in it. the tank is there for quite awhile. the entire thing is closing. When i got it, it is opened up fully what are the main cause ? I just create a new tank with existing filter in that new tank and new water. Didn't smell anythign funny. I try to shake nothing falls off. What do I need to take note. I was having a 3ft tank before transporting to a 2 ft one in the mean time because i want to change the 3ft water already. Algae was like shit in there, maybe thats why. Can you guys guide me what to do for the 3ft tank next? thank you so much. i really like corals. i am a newbie. by the way i just started on corals cause i was previously having a fish only tank. cheers

Anyway, see if there are any white spots on the zoa polyps. If there are then most probably zoa pox. Otherwise put the zoa rock in tap water for 30 secs and shake it for a while after that in the tap water and put it back into your tank. If there are nudis on your zoa rock, they will fall out after the fresh water dip. For your 3 ft tank, just clean it up and do a water change. SRC Member comycus Posted April 28, 2010 SRC Member Share Posted April 28, 2010 Depending from tank to tank, sometimes it may take up to 1 week for the zoas to open up. But yours sound abit different coz it's not opening at all. Can give us what your tank parameters are exactly? Quote My old 3ft
