In that case, let me be the first one to do it and I'll file my report accordingly. So far I've lowered my sg level from 1.024 to 1.019 and put 15 tablets of Octozin into my 4ft tank. After 2 days, I intend to lower the sg further to 1.017 but I wanna get a different brand of hydrometer to confirm my level. At the moment I'm using a cheapo brand which gives me different reading every time I measure.

My H&S skimmer now collecting even darker foam than before. And my Skimz FR which runs the NP Bio Pellet is still running. I will measure my Nitrate level tonight and let you know.

My anthias that has ich after 2 days got lesser white spot n eating more. My yellow tang which is not affected by ich is also doing well and my corals-mostly mushrooms open as big as normal.

The report continues....

For those who r curious abt the outcome so far.... its good news. My nitrate is well under control, the octozin work wonders. My anthias gained back to almost its original size and weight with no white spots appearing. My corals still open up as usual. Maybe its still early to say but I intend to keep my sg at 0.017 for another 2-3 weeks before adding new fishes. Till then I'll keep u guys posted.

Watch out for ammonia spike. And I'm not sure how feasible it is to keep your corals at SG 1.017.

Good to document for us to learn :)

Thanks bro. I'll check my nitrate every 2 days. I think the corals are ok,although not tremendous, as long as I keep my PH, Kh and calcium stable at all times.

Everything seems to go very well.

Nitrate dropped from about 20 to 10 after 3 weeks. Also every 2 days WC maybe helped a lot. Now its between 5.0 to 0.

PH 8.2

Kh; 8 dKh

Calcium: 400

Most importantly my anthias feed like crazy (Henry's gourmet) and getting fatter by the day. No visible white spots.

Yellow tang also competing for food- can swim one end of the tank to steal food from other fishes.

Corals, mostly mushrooms open big. Four days ago bought a lobo and an elegance from another reefer no issue with the Octozin at all. Looked very healthy and open quite big too.

Overall feel satisfied with the outcome so far. Very tempted to buy new fishes. :eyebrow: :eyebrow:

Just wondering guys should I raise the SG slowly back to 1.024 before buying new fishes or should I stick to 1.017?

Anyway I intend to wait another week before buying new fishes.

Any advice or comment mostly welcome.

:thanks:

you can slowly raise it back to 1.024-1.025.

for a fish only tank, you can leave it at 1.017. since you have corals, bring it up to 1.024,25. corals can survive in lower salinity as long as your Ca, Kh and pH is high. but don't take advantage of that gift and just bring it back to 1.025

Not sure about this product Octozin which you are using to cure Ich , are they reef safe with your corals ? At least from your experience, we know one products which can be proven to be safe reef since it is hard to find a reef safe Ich medicine treatment for fish.

What brand is it ?

Ok Lemon I'll do that.

Bro Harlequin. This brand is mentioned in the other thread called Recommendation on reef safe medication for white ich. Thanks to this thread that I learn about this product.

The best thing is in one of the instructions by Octozin, the manufacturer suggested that u lower the SG to 1.017 for 5 to six weeks which I'm doing now. So I believe this product works best with accurate dosage and by lowering the SG levels.

Wait for my further report on the 25TH OR 26TH May where I will add new fishes.

:thanks: For showing your interests.

Hi Guys, the last time I dosed the octozin was about two weeks ago. Since then I've been doing wtc every two days.

My question IS HOW TO KNOW that I don't overdose. I intend to dose another round of Octozin before introducing new fishes even though I don't see any ich on my curent fishes.

Hi Guys I've added 3 new bartlett anthias, one purple queen and one dispair anthias on the 25th and so far doing very well.

All the 3 bartlett feeding like crazy on the second day (pellet and Henry's gourmet) while the dispair started feeding after 3 days.

So far none of the fishes either new or old ones showing any signs of ich. My nitrate is still between 0 to 5 so I guess my octozin and bio pellet work well together. I've raised the SG level to 1.020 so far and should be increasing further this week till I reach 1.024.

My corals too seemed unaffected by the medication and open up as usual. I also measure my calcium and Kh regularly and I make sure my Ph is stabble at between 8.2 to 8.4.

Everything goes well so far and feel very satisfied.

well done bro. But is it effective if angel and butterfly fish infect with whitespot in a liveforck tank using Otozine. I had tried many medication reef safe and they are not effective only hypo and copper can solve.

My question to you should be have you tried Octozin? My fishes are mainly tangs and anthias so I can't guarantee.Maybe if u want u can buy like 10 or 15 tablets from me to try it out. I bought my 200 tablets of Octozin for 1 blue note, 1 red note and 1 green note. SMS me and we can meet up and u can give it a try. Just let me know how big is your tank and hopefully I have enough to sell to you.
