jackywongto
Great looking nano.... Very neat indeed. BTW what is the purpose of the cutting at the overflow area? reduce the noise level of water gushing down. The water level in the overflow will be higher hence no splashing sound. SRC Member MOssrope Posted April 20, 2010 SRC Member Share Posted April 20, 2010 nice and neat setup. it will be pretty nice if the purple light look was original, aint it? your pics are still pretty clear when you are drunk. i realised you are using filter socks? and always wanted to ask, will it not filter out pods and bigger microns zooplanktons? if it is off a lesser micron filter sock in the first place. SRC Member albinosage Posted April 20, 2010 Author SRC Member Share Posted April 20, 2010 BTW what is the purpose of the cutting at the overflow area? The slots are to both raise the water level in the overflow, and to act as an "underflow" of sorts. That way, water is not just drawn off the surface of the water, it is pulled from 3 different levels of the tank. nice and neat setup. it will be pretty nice if the purple light look was original, aint it? your pics are still pretty clear when you are drunk. i realised you are using filter socks? and always wanted to ask, will it not filter out pods and bigger microns zooplanktons? if it is off a lesser micron filter sock in the first place. Hahaha don't listen to Ray la, the pictures are a combination of white balance being slightly off; the cloudy water refracting light; and abundant coralline that shows up as purple blotches in the shallow depth of field. As for the filter socks, I am using it for a very practical reason.... My bear mitts are too large to fit into the first compartment of the sump to add or remove filter wool. I'm using a 100 micron filter, I think there shouldn't be a problem as I switch off the pumps when I filter feed. wah bino my man, didnt you got a new tank. way to go. nothing beats a tank with sump. it look really gooooda Hahahaha, maybe you didn't know cos you are so used to large tanks that nano tanks are too small for your eyes to notice lol. Sponsor dr evil Posted April 21, 2010 Sponsor Share Posted April 21, 2010 with a higher level, i believe the noise level would reduce as well.. there is a pipe in the overflow box that is raised to 3/4 high. So when the water high up, it will have less waterfall and will reduce the noise. Another beauty of it all is that i have customise a cover for the overflow box..... so the tank is neat..... jackywongto
very well thought of Razali a very nice ELOS lookalike... except that it has better features and at a much lower pricing. - 3 sided crystal glass - neat joints and chamfered edges - overflow takes in water from levels of the tank - high pipe and overflow cover to reduce noise. - spacious sump for refugum, skimmer 1 word ..... SRC Member albinosage Posted April 21, 2010 Author SRC Member Share Posted April 21, 2010 Yup Jacky you are right about the noise reduction. Only thing is that the silence is canceled out by my use of filter sock, so there's no sponge or wool to reduce the sound when it hits the sump haha. Siang, Dr Evil dropped by my place last night with the BM skimmer... we opened up the carton together and admired the skimmer until we found the body cracked from shipping . I'll get a replacement in a few days. And yah, hahaha my scape always very skinny with minimal rocks one...
