Hi Guys,

Have some question because the more i read, the more confuse I get ... :P

Was currently running on florescene tube, Was this '400w radium' a better choice?

This is only referring to the bulb for the whole set?

For a 6x2x2½ tank, how many do I need?

what is the Amp. consumption?

And can a single socket outlet support such high ?

please advice :D

radium is the brand of the bulb, 400watts is the power consumption.

for 6ft, you would need at least 3 MH bulbs, depending on what kind of corals you are keeping, either 3x150watts, 3x250watts or 3x400watts.

1 socket can supply up to 13A so 240Volts X 13A = ~3000watts

I would suggest you dont connect more than 2500watts of lightings per switch.

You will have to check yr MCB whether yr socket is a delicated power source or shared. If its a shared source, yr total power consumption of all the shared sockets cannot exceed 3000watts

you can also calculate yr electrical bills by using the formula

consumption(kW) x (no. of hours/month) x $0.16

e.g if you use 3x400watts, that will be 1.2kW

assuming 12hours lighting period per day, 12hrsx30days = 360hrs.

1.2kW x 360hrs = 432kWh

432 kWh x 0.16 = $69.12 :yeah:

So much much is per piece? It is only the bulb or wif the casing and wiring as well?

Grateful :D

I dun want this forum to become a free marketplace for vendors who dun care to support SRC/help me subsidise SRC.

I just invested US$100 to get a CMS system installed.

Need to time to figure out how it works.

I was doing a search on www.yellowpages.com.sg on companies dealing in Metal Halide lamps and came across this company, Almanach Lamp & Luminaires Pte Ltd. I spoke to a Mr Lau (Telephone: 62946303) and he has one using 150W bulb (don't know which brand but they do carry Radium ones as well) and using a fitting meant for floodlights (a U-bracket pendant using chains). He says he is selling it for SGD300plus.

-----

I just spoke to him again about the Radium 400W bulbs as mentioned in another thread. He has no stock but he can order (minimum 12 bulbs). I am asking him for a price and he will e-mail me tomorrow.

(Please note that I have no commercial dealings with Almanach; I just want to help other SG Reefers here.)

Anyone has experience with Iwasaki 150W SE 20K bulbs. Thinking of getting two of these for my 4 ft tank, compliment with 1 Coralife Actinic FL. Is this OK? Use for clams, softie and mushies. No SPS

I think (marine) therefore I am
