1/4 HP Arctica chiller Price Gauge

Hi all,

I am testing the market as to how much I can sell off my 1/4HP Arctica chiller for, it's been used since Jan 2010 so it's about 3.5 months old. Considering changing because of my tank setup, a 1/3 HP arctica would probably suit our needs better.

go for drop in coil...cheaper than 1/3, perform much better... no more warm air going in the house....

Why dont you do a search under the pasa malam section and you should be able to guage how much you can sell for your chiller ?

Hi, there is not clear standard. My friend got his at 850 early last yr, usage abt the same as yrs. However, I got mine at 400 after 1 yr usage and there are ppl selling higher or cheaper. It really depends on market demand and supply and yr luck. As suggested by bro vtec, if u thinking to upgrade, the Amt for new 1/3 can do drop in coil unless u considering second hand. Maybe u can put up a bid to see the demand. Bid can always withdraw if u chge yr mind.

i also feel drop-in coil will be a better solution, but guess pub bill will also be a bit higher due to on/off an over-sized external compressor? any bros to share?

installation & piping is another headache for those already deco-ed home...

S$400 is a steal even after one year , i think 800-1000 is reasonable...

ur bill will not be high due to a 1/3 HP arctica not realli power saving too... those drop in compressor realli can pull down 1 degree in a very short time....saw it with my own eyes....

thanks .. I got an indicative price liow but as you say , it depends on willing buyer and willing seller at the time. See how it goes when I test test a 1/3 HP

Ketchup and I do want to upgrade to a compressor unit.. PROBLEM.. I have NO WHERE to put the compressor. I live in a condo and I cannot put a compressor unit on my planter ( although that is the nearest and easiest to install!) because that would have some peeps in the management committee banging on my door to get it removed.

My Air con ledge is BEHIND the kitchen which is rather far away and it's very messy and to do rewiring .. also, there is not enough space on the air con ledge for another compressor unit for the tank... and with windows above the current air con compressors I can't install wall brackets as well.

and yes, the mess of wiring it up.. leaves me reeling... cause I HAVE TO CLEAN! Ketchup.. I wait long long siah.

just fyi, this can still work around, the window can change to open inwards and then compressor can stack up using brackets as i did it for my living room aircon.

ok what i can add is good and bad bout drop in coil and stand alone chiller

Drop in coil

advantage

1.) faster chill down

2.) doesn't need a feeding pump

3.) save space on the cab or exterior

4.) less heat in the room

disadvantage

1.) Can't move around to which ever angle u want

2.) when rebuild a new tank have to take it into cosideration

3.) wall drilling may needed for this work

4.) need to paid re-work on the chiller if needed to move placing of the tank

Stand alone unit

advantage

1.) can move around which already answer all the changing of tank or move house

disadvantage

1.) more heat in the room

2.) may need a feeding pump

3.) chilling period may be longer

4.) take up a small foot print depend on model

have u consider changing yr lights to LED?...and do away with yr current lightings...u probably need not change yr chiller....the LED lightset will cost u $1500 plus with hanging kit,etc...but saves u the cost of changing yr chiller and installation and monthly SP bill and less heat around yr living room...n u dun have to worry abt yr chiller break down (touch wood 10xs) and yr livestocks gets cook when u r not around....i will probably do that if i were u....just my tot...

r u using LED for ur current 4ft?
