I think the preferred brand is Deltec.

Skimz is a local brand.

All hearsay. I have used neither before so.... better for you to do more homework before purchase.

Eqpt: Deltec MCE 600, Tunze 6055 with Tunze 7091 controller, Artica 1/15 HP chiller, AquaIllumination Sol Blue LED Light System

Bro, it's a good comparison between skims and deltec as they are almost identical. Best is the body looks almost the same and powered by needlewheel. Therefore, both can definitely deliver the performance u are looking for, as long as u choose the correct one. however, having said all these, the old models are the one I am referring to(not the older generation of skimz which they seems to use venturi method for their skimmer). The newer one, they are not so identitcal and not much review to compare. In general, go chk their sensitivity and

adjustment method to counter water level issue. u should look at is the after sales service support. If u are on budget and don't care after sales support, u can choose skimz or other brands like reef octopus, bm, etc. For gd after sales service and don't mind forking out slightly more, go deltec from local agent. One story I heard was warranty from a particular brand was after buying and when the needlewheel impellor has problem, he understood from shop warrenty doesn't cover impellor. Then, he got to wait for parts. Just imagine yr precious tank will not have skimmer and u have to find yr way. Just my personal opinion. Fy reference.

Tank : 4 X 2 X 2 with low iron front panel and external overflow

Nitrate Filter : Deltec NF 509 and tee off from AB2000

Calcium R'tor : Deltec PF 501 with RM secondary chamber

Kalkwasser R'tor : Deltec KM500

Chiller : Pansonic 1 HP Compressor with 20m titanium Coil

Wave Makers : 4 X Tunze 6055 with 7096 & Vortec MP40w

Controller : GHL Profilux

Lighting : ATI Powermodule 10 or 8 tubes

Water Top-up : Water Top-Up tank powered by Tunze Osmolator

i tot you mentioned you are using a red dragon which means a BK? or you have more than one tank or skimmer?

i agree with what fred mentioned. want to save money => go skimz. if got extra $ for ease ==> deltec, the newer version do look good.

just my opinion.

If a man could beat his own fantasy. Then to only breed in captivity. Then its pointless.

Genesis 1:20

And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that has life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moves, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

Deltec is no longer producing AP models...if i'm not wrong...and the latest TC models are expensive...$2k plus for the SC2560 model. I think u can still get deltec AP models from delightings.com...but these are "left overs"...if u can get deltec AP models...it's a better choice...

another brand u can consider is ATI...also german product...the ATI bubblemaster 200 only uses 40w...low energy consumption, but yet high powered to skim up to 1000litres...and the bubbles are very fine...
