Raising Level of KH

need advice form fellow reefers. I have been keeping 3ft sps tank for about 6 months.

initial water parameters were fine and within the range for sps. however, recently both my Ca and KH levels have been low and despite almost daily dosing, ca is still about 360 and kh at 6.

would appreciate any advice from bros on raising the CA and KH and maintaining it.

Check your Mg levels too. Prob need to dose Mg.

Once your Mag raised others will easily raise. Coz this is what they call marble theory. Most new SPS keepers experience. Same situation here when am at 6months in this SPS keeping. I did whacked the Mag using 2 bottles of Mag additive by Seachem in a week stretch! to raise my mag from 1200 to 1400ppm.

I am in concensus with comycus and thairun.

do test your Mg level. It could be very very low.

you need a mg level of 1350 ppm

get mg up to a decent level and then start dosing KH and Ca.

Else you will be wasting your additives.

keep us posted on your MG level now.

Very curious to know what is its level now.

I totally agree .Your MG is too low.

6.5 * 2 * 2 + 3.75 * 1.5 *1.5,(Decomn on 14/9/08)
4*2*2 + 2.5*1.25*1.25 (Decomn on 1/8/09)

BTW, is there any place to buy the additives in bulk?

Its quite costly to buy from the fish farms. Thanks

My stocks a food grade had run out left 2kg. So far had 2 reefers interested to take 5kg each. It comes in 25kg pack at the Chemical supply. May be will order again next month if I can finish my other additives namely CaCl, potassium Cl, Sodium Bicarbonate and Cal Hydroxide (Kalwasser). They had left about 5-10kg.
