The Moorish Idol has the notoriety of being a difficult fish to keep, and rightly so. It is an extremely sensitive fish to care for when it comes to feeding and water quality.

In regards to the second most important factor in keeping this fish, water quality, the Moorish Idol is very sensitive to the slightest increase in ammonia levels and changes in pH. Taking both the time to properly acclimate this fish into an aquarium, and follow regular aquarium maintenance routines to ensure good environmental conditions are of the utmost importance to its survival

Its preferred sponge, small crustacean and invertebrate life, and some marine algae. may nip at large polyped stony corals and some types of soft coral polyps.

Got one which died long time ago, keep it alive for about 2 weeks, does eat well but die for no obvious reason. Beautiful fish indeed!!!

Mine died too, survive in my tank for about two weeks. Reasons are; too stress before I bought it; suffer from white spots; bully by my YT; and most importantly, refuse to eat. sign...

Anyone has successful keeping it, and how long?
