Bulky mail keeps disappearing, what can I do?

I suspect that some dishonest element within SingPost has been responsible for my missing packages from overseas, is there anything I can do to bust them?

To back up my suspicions: 2 months ago, placed order worth ~USD$60 from iHerb, hasn't arrived till now. More than a month ago placed order worth £60 from ASOS (UK) but items never arrived. Early March, placed another order from iHerb with a friend, but split the delivery to 2 addresses. Friend received it 16 March, but I never got it.

My gf made a call to SingPost and asked about the packages, and as expected they used the same excuse that the item could be lost overseas (not in their care) and since there is no tracking number, they are not responsible. So my gf pointed out that the latest package from the same sender arrived at the friend's place but not mine, and she asked point blank: 3 packages of high value missing in a row, has someone been stealing our shit?! The very next day, I got a missed delivery note to pick up the latest package...

Now, I understand that when I mail things without tracking there is a small risk I have to take. However for international shipments the difference can be $20 to $30, so i usually just send stuff by standard airmail or priority USPS if the value is below $100. What are the chances that I will lose 3 (2, not including the latest one that arrived after the call) packages in a row?! Furthermore, I have ordered from ASOS and iHerb several times over the last couple of years with no problem. (I also suspect that my postman changed recently... don't see the regular one anymore)

Other than to pay protection money ensuring that my items arrive at all, what else can I do to make sure that nobody steals my shit? Anyone been in a similar situation?

you can write into NewPaper and make a hoohah and hopefully, there are others who will chime and make it a bigger hoohah, then maybe the authorities will look into it.

what you describe can be very real. I am skeptical as well because they lost some of the packages that my Sis sent over from USA.

But whether it happened here or back in the shipping country, there is no way to identify

no choice bino, sometime pay more to be safe to counter those dishonest personnel involved during the shipping. dishonest people are everywhere. very likely some will end up here and there.

perhaps next time buy more things to get a certain deserving value then ship over. so that u wont feel a pinch too hard.

and sorry to hear about ur lost, i know its frustrating. or maybe you can shoot an email down to singpost stating your assumption regarding the new postman to stress them further on enforcement. i suggest using strong (not foul) language to let them feel the pinch if they ever give a shit.

Yah I agree that that was a risk that I took when I don't opt for tracking. But think about it, why should I be arm twisted into paying more money so that they don't lose my stuff? Right now it feels as though they are telling me, if you don't pay extra, we will steal your shit.

In the last couple of months, I only ship by vPost (Speedpost) or EMS. Singpost is only good at delivering utility bills and junk mail

They recognise you by name, don't even need postal code or block number. "Oh! You are so and so... you like to buy things from here right?" or "Oh yah I think I saw another package for you, wait I'll go and get it for you. (when I was there to pick up something else)"

Maybe I'll pay them a visit again soon

Anyway, is it feasible to make a police report for such things? I mean, the circumstances are very suspicious right? With a police report, I may have more leverage when speaking to SingPost customer service...

its possible to make a report. i believe the police will still entertain you but i think they will give you a standard conclusion. but then when theres a report statement at hand, your speech can carries more weight. and yes, its rather suspecious for your case.

and since they know you for so and so, thats even better. show them ur torns, let them remember by hard, so that they will not try to mess around too much next time. you are the customer of their service, you have ur rights.

write a feedback letter to the head of SingPost and cc to strait times and other local papers. Go straight up to the head and tell them your encounters. They will investigate into the case and find the culprits. demand a solution letter or apologize letter with explanation. in the meantime, write to local forum to make the whole islandwide read and support you.

Yes, I think I will do that. I think a lot of people underestimate the value of a police report.

My gf had her phone stolen from her bag in the MRT. She could ID the person if shown the CCTV recording (she knew when and which door he got off at), but the station manager said nothing could be done. I was quite irritated that my gf didn't want to file a police report ("nothing they can do about it..."), because I believe that it is important to have documentations of such incidents so that official records will reflect the crime rates accurately. Imagine a world where nobody makes a police report after getting mugged on the train... SMRT will brag about their crime free trains.

in fact, make report, talk to the post office manager, write up to Post office execs, meet PAP MP, then talk to Newspaper (New paper is very good for exposing dirty laundyry kind of stuff).

by that time, new paper report this has been taken up to so and so MP already, MP dun have a choice but to look into this already.
