Low cost, Low complexity or Low class loh. Doesn't matter.

I believe that while marine hobby is not cheap, there is no reason why I cannot reduce the cost as much as I can.

I also believe in helping our mini marine environment find its own ecological balance through the use of more natural methods of nutrient export.

Lastly, I call it an experiment because I don't have a habit of following the accepted norm. E.g. I have keep my old tank with no water change for years, I top up with only PRIME treated tapwater, etc.

may the scaping be stacking type than all in one lump to look better

This is the old look. The current scape is just slightly taller.... But it still quite a compact lump as I am not using any superglue or epoxy yet...

  • 2 weeks later...

See my second post. I have since added another t5 tube.

just notice your tank is 2.5 ft tall.

might want to try to place your corals on the top part of the rockscape

Certain organic waste in the water can cause the water to be tinted yellow. Activated carbon is used to remove these organics..

you brain coral seems a little bleached.. kinda see thru..

Ok. I will see what I can do about the water.

I think you are refering to the green brain. I will see if I can place it at a better spot..

Ray your eyes really sharp.

I thought it was just bad photo quality but went back to check initial post => really no carbon used :)

Kanegan,

you are without a skimmer too. you change your water often?

no carbon, no regular WC, no skimmer.....

hmmmm hope your theory works bro!

I have kept a Fish only tank (2 large tangs, 1 adult size emperor, 1 clownfish and 1 pygmy angel) for 2 years without WC.

Only top up with tap water.

But nvr try with corals before......

lol.. when i first started my water is like yellow river.. thats how i spotted it.. didnt even notice if TS got use carbon or not.. hahah...

think the best spot for brain corals is on the sand bed.. just that your lights maybe insufficient... do play around do see what best fits you..

good luck! flowers.gif
