I got a male and female in the very first batch from Henry few months back on the very day of shipment.

The female died after 2 weeks, not sure why... maybe kanna attack by the bloody mantis in my tank.

The male is ok.. grown a bit.. and feeding on pellet too.

The current batch i saw on Sun is very nice.. much larger than the earlier batch. Price oso better too. :)

Henry's batch of Ventralis are feeding greedily.... i would have got a pair if my bio-load is not too heavy, and if I didn't have the damned Tri-color anthia. <_<

If i'm you, i will ditch the tri-colour. IMO, they are one of the most agrssive anthias you can have.

I used to have 1 which killed a lot of my other anthias.

I trapped it and give to LFS to re-sell. Nice colour thou.

Anthias of the same shape tend to be more aggressive as they are very close to the basslet family.

Meaning they are "predator" by nature. :(

Sorry, not into anthias but the colour is stunning

Have been trying to catch it for many weeks now. I swear this one got some LKY heritage. Won't ever go intomy Betta box trap. <_<

Try putting food in the betta box everything u feed. Let it get used to feeding in it.

It work for me. I stop feeding for 1 day and next feeding, most fishes will chiong into the box when I put the mysis cube into the box.

Else try to use the mirror method if this is a dominating male.

Good Luck! :)

I believe it is henry food for now. Take a while before they can pellet feed.

For my case, it is mysis for a while first before pellet.

bro thomas..........and bro hmkui(never see his update for long).

Indeed I have managed to keep ventralis pair for a long time, they are quite sensitive and fragile fish esp the beginning but once it settle down they are pretty hardy. My pair feed on almost anything from Henry gourmet food (Marine Life), mysis shrimp, live bbs and frozen bbs to even pellet food. The Best part is the color retained since day 1 without any form of discoloration. One important thing to note is if the fish is kept with non aggressive fish the chances for survivor is higher. Hope this info helps for bro who wish to keep ventralis anthias.

Agrees with Bro hmkui. Honestly, if the anthias feed on henry gourmet, it doesnt mean they will survive as those shy anthias will lose to those established fishes in your tank and ultimately die off. This happened to my feeding purple queen and barlett(though bold but still lose to my big fishes). Lesson learned, hence clearing my big fishes. Bro hmkui, do update your FTS. hehe.

If can dedicate a species tank to ventralis anthias I believe the fishes should do very well. Cooler water should help, as it would lower their metabolic rate and help them retain body condition better. Warmer temperatures you would need to feed more frequently to fatten them up.

Always something more important than fish.
