hairy crab

Recommended Posts

I just found a small tiny hairy crab in my tank (about 1cm big). It lives in the little holes in the rocks. Is it harmful to my fishes and corals? Should I remove it? I believe it came together with the live rocks.

Anyway crabs i see that hitchhike from liverock, I will defiantely remove

Usable only if you don't have any ornamental shrimps such as Cleaners, Blood etc ... otherwise, it'll easily pick at the food.

Small fishes or those with slimmer profile such as Dottybacks may also get to the bait.

Try using baitmeat in a mesh bag or stocking, last I heard, crabs get trapped in them easily, but that may also be the case for shrimps.

it just is a brands essence of chicken bottle, wash clean with fish bait inside. you may want to wrap the bait up with a bit of netting to prevent fishes from prying the thing away.

angle the bottle in such a way that it has an opening. angle it against the rock, and wait till the next morning to fish the crabs out.
