SRC Member Milch_Tan Posted March 20, 2010 SRC Member Share Posted March 20, 2010 Hi bros/sis, I am very curious if it is possible to have a air-con system that can double up as a chiller, eg. System 4 Air-Con : 3xA/C units & 1x Reef Tank. Can this actually be done? if so then would be able to save space/cost if we are changing A/Cs for our houses Quote " The brick walls are there for a reason. SRC Member LaW Posted March 20, 2010 SRC Member Share Posted March 20, 2010 i heard cases of 1 tank + 1 room for the event, of 3 + 1. it might be taxing even if possible and you will need a high hp compressor. and you will not be using those inverter series for tank. so do consider. Quote If a man could beat his own fantasy. Then to only breed in captivity. Then its pointless. Genesis 1:20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that has life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moves, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day. || Tank: 78" x 30" x 30" || Sump: 48" x 22" x 20" || Lights: PowerModule 10 X 80W|| Returns: 2 x HF32 || || Skimmer: BubbleKing Supermarin 300 || Wavemaker: 3 x 6100 & 1 x 6200, 2 x Wavebox 6212, WavySea || || FR: 2 x FR150 || NR: Sulphur Denitrator || CR: RM Custom Made 8" || KR: Deltec KM500 || TopUp: Tunze Osmolator 3155 || || UV: Coralife 12X 36W || Ozonizer: Sanders C200|| Controller: GHL Profilux Plus II Ex ||

But its debatable if it is worth the power since we can't really measure it off hand. Solo77
Inverter aircon can't be used cos of the hooking of ext. Thermostat. It is possible but when u on all units, very likely overload. Subject to correction cos that was my understanding when I did my research. Subject to correction from snr reefers who are technically trained. SRC Member Milch_Tan Posted March 21, 2010 Author SRC Member Share Posted March 21, 2010 many thanks for all the help! think will still stick to conventional chiller/compressor Quote " The brick walls are there for a reason. SRC Member dersuz Posted March 21, 2010 SRC Member Share Posted March 21, 2010 I am user of system 4 aircon with 1 set to my 4.5ft marine tank. It would be wise if you are a frequent user of aircon for your rooms, if not more energy will be wasted just to kick in the compressor to serve yr marine tank especial in the day. Idealy 1 to 1 will be better a choice.
Solo77
That is a sound advice as non inverter will kick start at full load, hence if u use system 4, more than 1 hp, not economical. Standalone will be suggested by bro dersuz Quote Tank : 4 X 2 X 2 with low iron front panel and external overflow Skimmer : BK SM200 with waste collector Return Pumps : Red Dragon 6m3 and Ehiem 1262 FR : 2 X Deltec 509 & powered by AB2000 Nitrate Filter : Deltec NF 509 and tee off from AB2000 Calcium R'tor : Deltec PF 501 with RM secondary chamber Kalkwasser R'tor : Deltec KM500 Chiller : Pansonic 1 HP Compressor with 20m titanium Coil Wave Makers : 4 X Tunze 6055 with 7096 & Vortec MP40w Controller : GHL Profilux Lighting : ATI Powermodule 10 or 8 tubes Water Top-up : Water Top-Up tank powered by Tunze Osmolator External Monitor : American Pinpoint pH and Temp. SRC Member Milch_Tan Posted March 22, 2010 Author SRC Member Share Posted March 22, 2010 hi bro dersuz, thanks for your inputs too.. btw if you want the 6 ft cabinet, i should be able to give u very good pricing, haha. hmmm my family, probably almost every night so that's 2x aircon, n that's only during the night, i don't turn on that regularly. there's also the kick-in for chillers, so should be more economical? what bout compressors? do they have kick in and resting periods too? sorry for the many questions.
