will protein skimmers or uv sterilizers reduce algae growths

UV does help a little on reducing the algae growth. But most likely is the high P04 and N03 in your water which is the cause of it, try runing a FR with P04 removal media or water change to reduce the P04 and N03 in your water.

Hope it helps :)

 please help,i got my sand bed filled with red slime algae

they say red slime is a type of bacteria, not algae.

should find out the cause of it as opposed to metting out temp measures.

just something to ponder over that might help.

Maybe check your water source - use DI water? phosphate, nitrate level?

your tank current phosphate , nitrate level?

feed heavily? both corals and fishes - cut down amount and frequency?

shorten photo period?

do more frequent WC?

new tank sydnrome? - newer tanks have this issue but should stablise 3 - 6 months later.

sufficent flow in the tank?

I'd say more effective way of getting rid of red slime is to redirect water flow. It thrives in dead spots only.. I've had 2 wavemakers broken down before. Didn't bother to replace them for months. Red slime grew quite a lot at one end of my tank. Then finally got new wavemakers and the slime is gone again. They are too weak to withstand decent water flow.

Why do we use "My 2 cents worth" when 1 cents are not legal tender in Singapore anymore? Shouldn't it be 5 cents worth?
