scrathes on the front view tank

Hi reefers,

I just bougt a 2nd hand tank from somebody and 2day after I had filled the tank with tap water,and I had switched on the ighting fo a while,then only I discovered some scracthes on the front view glass.Any remedies for it or repair to seal off the scrathes?

1)Kinda ugly when the lights shine the tank.

2)Should I just live with it?

you can still rectify since you have not scape it yet, drain all the water out for temporary storage ( if internal of the tank ), call a car windscreen polisher to see if they willing to do the job , for car windscreen scratch removal should cost arn $50-$100, and if you can find some1 willing to do it , maybe you can post up the contact details to benefit the rest of the bros who are having similar problem

Step 1

Apply polishing or jeweler's rouge to a lambs wool buffing pad. You can either buff the scratch by hand using a circular motion or with an electric buffer on medium speed.

Step 2

Wash the polishing compound, jeweler's rouge or whitening toothpaste off from time to time in order to check on the progress of the scratch removal.

Step 3

Mix two ounces of ammonia with two quarts of water. You may want to be sure to hold your nose closed during this process! Also, always wear rubber gloves and safety goggles when working with ammonia.

Step 4

Clean the glass surface with the ammonia water with a clean soft sponge.

Step 5

Dry the glass with a lint free towel. If the scratches are not completely gone, they should at least be less apparent. If there is no significant difference, consider contacting a glass company to replace or rebuff the glass.

Tips & Warnings

Do not use abrasive household cream cleaners. Whitening toothpaste is a good alternative to polishing compound..If possible, lay the glass on a flat surface during the polishing process to provide additional support..If your fingernail can be inserted in the scratch, it is probably too deep to be buffed out..Use gentle pressure to avoid breaking the glass. It is also important that you do not use a polishing compound that is overly abrasive or you could end up damaging the glass further.

Trust me. If you are using tooth paste for a deep cut. It will be a lot of work.

wow.guys..really appreciate ur valuable tips n important updates.guess I've to try out the method first.

btw when switch to attnic blue light, then the scrathes can really be seen clearly.
