UV keeps water clear from floating algae but doesn't really get rid of ICH , where else ozonizer has a powerful oxidizing effect on both your bioload and any irritant disease that may have been lying dormant or transfered from a newly bought fish. Overall ozonizer is the killer of diseases but you need to know how to use this oxidizing agent first on a reef tank or else it could totally "wipe" out everything in there ;) So be careful with the usage of ozone in an all reef tank.

ozone burns unlike UV which is a milder version :D total wipe out would mean nitrifying bacteria is no longer there to breakdown bioload , corals die off due to the powerful oxidizing gas and fishes could be poisioned. So total disaster if you're not careful enough with how much ozone you emit into your reef system ;) If you're using ozone remember to run it through your protien skimmer and outlet flow be directed to activated carbon before passing through your return pump.
