Need help & advise.. Extremely low PH!

Hi all, i just rescape my tank and only have some corals in my tank (no fish yet).. I used sea water for my set up and initially the PH was alright.. But recently when i added a FR (with Rowa Phos) due to brown aglae which was common during the setup phase, my PH drop to less than 3!! I thought its my PH monitor or probe giving me problem.. But after testing it in Iwarna and re-calibration, the PH monitor and probe is working normally.. But when I brought it back and put into my tank, the water read a PH of less than 1 (ard 0.66)!!The value went up when i shake the probe in the tank but went down again after i stop...

I do not have such problem previously... Anyone can advise??

Thanks in advance..

dip it in tap water. let us know the result.

If a man could beat his own fantasy. Then to only breed in captivity. Then its pointless.

Genesis 1:20

And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that has life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moves, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

It's impossible to have PH of 0.31. All your corals would have died already and when u put your hand into the tank, your hand would have disintegrated too and you will end up in hospital in the emergency unit. The most probable thing is that your probe could be spoilt.

The next thing you can do is to get the PH test kits from any LFS and test your water.

yes, tap water should give 7+~9 normally.

so counter check that.

if you have coke or other soft drinks, dip it in. it should be about 3.5+/-

btw, how old is ur probe. if the liquid inside the probe can be seen, is there still any?

and perhaps u want to announce the brand of ph meter you used as well for reference.

pH not possible to be below 3. If so your hands should be suffering from acid burn already..

my friend's FW tank pH 4, but her FW fish are surviving well, for years

if you mix 1 part ph down solution to 10 part tap water, the reading will be around 3 but no ill effects to your hand

furthermore those carbonic drinks we consume pH around 3 too

cheers

Bro, I suggest you go down to the LFS and buy the PH test kits. These will be able to test your PH of your water and you will be able to get a rough idea of how much your PH is. Otherwise you can borrow Jacky's PH monitor and test the water in your tank.

Another thing is do you have the calibration liquid for the Pinpoint monitor? If you have use that to test your PH probe and monitor.

What you can do is bring a sample of your sump and main tank water to Ray's house and test with his PH monitor. If his PH monitor indicates readings of 8 then something wrong with either your monitor or probe already.

is it consistently low 0.6 always when u measure?

twist the wire at the connector end, probe end and see if the reading changes.

if yes, then prob cabling has gone bad.

scoop the sump water in a cup and measure outside the sump.

Is it still 0.6?
