While planning for my sump, I found out that for external return pump the inlet should not be restricted as in no elbow and pipe reducer... Can someone show how you plumber a external pump? I totally got no clue how should I connect it to the sump... Been using submerged pumps all along...

Anyone uses SCWD with Eductors?

I have a eductor with Aquabee 3000, it increases the flow slightly but depending of which type you use the flow may be focus vs broad flow of Tunze or Vortech. ;)

You will need to drill a hole in your sump in order to do so.

As the height of pump differs, it is best to drill the sump on the spot after you have finalized a good pump and have place the pump in its permanent position on some vibration dampening materials (a book wrapped tightly with plastic bag works well for me).

Always choose a good reliable pump with sufficient spare as your external return cuz if touch wood your return fails and you are force to change to another pump with different height or inlet diameter, you will need to use elbow or reducers which will reduce the performance. Or even worst have to change the sump altogether.

;)

Hmm.. Dunno which one is it that i am getting also... I know it works with normal pump... Just that within the time that the SCWD is switching, would the eductor be of any use?

Haha, I know... So the hole can be drilled after the sump is made? or show the tank maker the pump so he will roughly know where to drill.

But best the inlet should be straight right?

Never connect with SCWD before but I guess is that when the SCWD alternates there might be a slight back siphon. But not much to the extend that you will have a back flush like those of a vortech or wavebox.

Yes, most dril on the spot after placing the return pump to get accurate measurement. ;)

forget about flow accerators. just used SCWD is good enough.

If a man could beat his own fantasy. Then to only breed in captivity. Then its pointless.

Genesis 1:20

And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that has life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moves, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.
