4 feet tank abt how much?

Duno..never really bothered..I just dose according to what I am comfortable with..considering the amount of filter feeders I am having. ;)

Always something more important than fish.

yr algae bloom could be due to other factor, not only DT.

hence the short life span for DT.

Dead Phytoplankton cells (even if they are preserved) are decomposing particulate matter. Bacteria blooms and nuisance algae are a real potential with dead phytoplankton cells, which is a concern in any closed system, regardless of the size. Live phytoplankton will reproduce while taking up dissolved nutrients, until it is consumed.
