Pasar Malam - Office Tank

Hi All,

Decided to share my recently acquired Pasar Malam tanks experience with the reefing community.

The reason I called this "Pasar Malam" tanks as 80% of the items such as equipments, live rock, fishes and corals are obtained from reefers in the Pasar Malam forum. I would like to thank the active reefing community and the Pasar Malam fourm here. Without them, all of these you going to read/see might not be possible. It is interesting to see how we can enjoy reefing at an affordable and "value for money" alternatives for this expensive and probably long hobby.

There were basically three tanks I was setting up recently: One at my new Office (5 footer) , and the other two (6 footer and 4 footer) at my home (one for me and one for my son).

The story goes here:

Part 1 - Office Tank

In early October 2009, decided to move some of our business units to a building opposite the old one as the rental offered are very attractive due to the recent financial crisis and rescission. Office renovation took 2 months and decided to put in a Marine Fish Tank for the staff as well as for the customers. How can this be done at an affordable price as much money have already been spent on the office renovation? - so I decided to get most of my items from the Pasar Malam forum. :whistle

Decided to open a window in a conference room overlooking the staff area. This provides customer a view for the office (as they are restricted to reception and conference rooms area) as well as the marine life in the tank. The tank is placed inside the office area. Again, one stone two birds

Initial setup of my Office Tank: I decided to transfer all the fishes and accessories from my old 5ft flat Hexagon tank (see Part 2 on Pasar Malam - Home Tanks thread) to this tank. I also did a few upgrade here - upgraded the Skimmer from a Reef Octopus to a Beckett Skimmer with Rio 20F pump and included a MD55 return pump.. Again, all these are acquired from the Pasar Malam here...

Wow that's a beautiful nano tank! It's very cool that you've set up a marine tank in the office, it does wonders for staff morale.

Mitlancer: Actually when the coraline algae spreads to the background, it will be quite nice, blends the live rocks seamlessly into the back.
