read on some of the reviews abt this light. the normal led has to be replace after 18mths. cree LED might be able to last longer. but since led is so new to us, n no one actually get to use that long yet, it hard to get any solid proof on this...

Yeah. I realize that tanks above 2 feet, then LED cost incremental is quite high.

how big is your tank bro?

That is one of the pros of using T5. you can have a diverse spectrum.

As compared to my 20k MH, both the temperature colours are about the same.

But the LED tends to give a little more florescence as compared to the MH.

Do note that for the corals, give them 3 - 4 weeks to get use to the change in light.

During this period, some of them might fade in colour.

some of my corals took alost 5 -6 weeks to colour up the last time after I swop from LED to MH

So I guess it is the same vice versa.

I can suggest that you purchase a couple of spare blue LEDs, and replace the white LEDs (maybe 2 - 3 on each set) to give your tank a more florescence look.

You need some adjustments when you switch from T5 to LED...i have the same experience as you.

You can either supplement yr LED with actinic blue T5 or fiji purple T5 or change some of the bulbs to blue.

My personal opinion: LED works better with T5.

Btw, Qian hu has brought in OT2 acadia...T5 and LED combination...its in their marine display tank.

M12345Y bro,

I think lets wait a couple more weeks 1st and see if they acclimatise better 1st.

keep us posted.

rgds

jacky

Thanks all. I'll give more time for the corals to adapt then.

Ya... Thanks Jacky, just u2u him..... For Fish only tank in 36" tank, can i use only one G2 110w??? Thanks...

yap for fish only, it is sufficient.

The 2 side of the tank might be dimmer though unless if you hang the light higher.

or you can consider getting 2x 60W and can space them apart the 3 feet so that the light spread is better.

At present, i only put 1 x ATI T5 Blueplus(39watt),1 x ATI T5 Aquablue Special(39watt), I have tried to add one more ATI T5 Aquablue Special but it is too bright for me...... Hope with 1 unit of G2-110w will just nice to my own prefrence...... my tank size is 3'(L) x 22"(H) x 17"(W) and if from my sand bed to the water lever, it only 16-17", so i hope with 1 unit of G2-110w will get me the good shimmer effect...... Anyway, Jacky, can i know Dr Evil is from which LFS in Singapore??? Thanks......

180w - uses 4x 30w LED bulbs with no 3w LED, the best PAR output in a small radius (2'x2'). Recommended for tanks over 20" tall.

0" 1300-1400 PAR

3" 800-900 PAR

10" 500-600 PAR

20" 200-300 PAR

230w - uses 4x 30w LED with the rest 3w LED, but spread out so generally it's like 2x 160w models.

160w - uses 2x 30w LED with the rest 3w LED.

Recommended for tanks over 20" tall.

0" 1100-1200 PAR

3" 600-700 PAR

10" 300-400 PAR

20" 150-250 PAR

170w - uses only 3w LED, ideal for shallow tanks over 36" wide.

110w - uses only 3w LED, ideal for shallow tanks 18-24" wide

Recommended for tanks within 20" tall.

0" 900-1100 PAR

3" 500-600 PAR

10" 200-300 PAR

20" 100-150 PAR

Guys, how do you find the performance of this Maxspect led lighting? Does it lessen the amount of time the chiller is turned on?

Generally LED fixtures should reduce the amount of time the chiller is turned on because unlike T5 and MH lights, LEDs do not direct a huge amount of heat at the water surface.

Based on par reading, seems that maxspect led far exceeds T5 tubes.

Seems like a product worth trying!

If one preference on mh, of course compare with mh.

If one preference on T5, of course compare with T5.
