got one from ML to try out...

they're also called anemone shrimps am i right?

really interesting creature..

when i first introduced it,

i slowly released it to the top of one of my yuma...

that night, it somehow disappeared..

i thought it was the end of it,

or ended up in one of my fishes stomach..

but to my surprise,

after 1 day,

i found it "hosting" my plate coral,

right at the other end of my 2ft cube..

its been there for 3days..

staying right beside the mouth of my plate,

not clapping, but moving..

is it normal?

ok to leave it there at my plate?

cos i've read before that one of the reefer's shrimp got eaten up by his plate..

i got damn scared..

but so far ok...

Since they are consider "coral shrimp" , they will find themslves a 'coral home ' to host.. Mine used to host in my RBTA, before it went missing.. Take note that the life span for this shrimp is pretty short, so be prepare about it, and if it went disapear, it may not be eaten up by your fish or ....Just that it's 'time' is up LOL :whistle:whistle

one such shrimp came along with the liverocks you gave me bro, from your old setup.. was this the one u were looking for?

another name for clapping shrimp is pistol shrimp..

they can form a partnership with watcher gobies and live with them in the gobies cave. u can try that! not 100% but at least mine did

Brown SPS > Kinder Surprise

White SPS = Kinder Surprise after expiry date

Assumption killed the dinosaurs, they didnt have test kits.

clapping shrimps are clapping shrimps, pistol shrimps are pistol shrimps. they are two totally different shrimps.

clapping shrimps are commensal shrimps that live on corals or anemones. two commonly offered "clapping" shrimps are periclimenes venustus and periclimenes holthuisi. they are called clapping shrimps because they do "clapping" actions with their claws.

pistol shrimps are different. they live on sandbeds and only some live with stonogobiop sp and other goby species. these shrimps are usially alpheus sp. and can form simbiotic relationship with gobies.

seem to be fine now..

instead of hosting at the mouth of the plate,

which always gives me the fear that the plate may one day decide to have the shrimp for lunch/dinner,

it is now hosting another yuma i just introduced..
