no. that's a male flame wrasse. it's a beautiful specimen but not yet to the alpha terminal male standard.

male and female flame wrasses are differentiated by a few things. All fairy wrasses are sexually dichromatic and dimorphic, meaning can be differentiated by colour and size.

males have yellow on the body and the 2 obvious red stripes on the eyes.

females are just a uniform pinky-orange.

all fairy wrasses are born females. They live in harems in the wild, consisting of numerous females, a few transitioning males and one alpha male. The alpha male will control and guard his harem from other wrasses, and flash to display at them during courtship. when the alpha male dies, either the transitioning males will morph to take it's place, or one of the dominant females will begin morphing into a male, and then to an alpha male.

This information is very important if you wish to recreate the haremic community in your tank.

Touchwood lei...but it seems more lively after i intro the female velvet wrasse and it enjoy side by side with it.....maybe after a while, i get a hybrid velvet and flame lor..haha

Hmm...in ur opinion, if i have alot of different species of male wrasse in one tank, will that be okay? I mean i intending to get ramboid (sorri abt e spelling), lineatus n probably a vanatu wrasse (if i can spot one).........

Haha...i wouldnt have done it without the help of a very friendly reefer as he share with me how to choose the alpha ones lor..hehe...

Anyway the first one month is very critical lor.....hopefully it stay in my tank for a very long long time..

this wrasse is quite hardy.as long as it is feeding well n not bully by other fishes, shouldnt be a prob...if possible, try get 2 females to accompany it....when this wrasse flashes, u will go mad...the colours r super bright.....i only saw mine flash once.....
