need recommendation for cleaning crews

Recommended Posts

hello all, need some recommendations for cleaning crews (esp for the sand) which is suitable for my tank. currently, it has a pair of seahorses, 3 damsels (domino spots, yellow tail, blue) and 1 clown. need to know which one that will not be bully by my damsels, esp the domino spots damsel. :( was thinking of sea hares but would like to know the suitability. my tank is currently using a hang on filter with low flow rate due to the seahorses that i have. also, would like to keep some shrimps as well. thanks.

i assume your tank is a small one? from what i read, i don't recommend you use a sea hare unless you share it with another reefer. turbo snails will be fine. pacific cleaner shrimp should be ok. you may want to stay away from damsels next time. they are hardy, but are not worth the trouble they cause you, unless you happen to get a well behaved one!

would definitely stay away from damsels in the future but the lfs recommended my dad to get some so i got no choice. :D will be getting cleaner shrimps but will the seahorse be interested in them since their main diet are shrimps.

no seahorse do not eat clean shrimps.

Seahorse should be kept in a specimen tank and should not be kept with damsels.

Seahorses Do eat shrimp.. but they are very particular about the size of the feeder.. anything too huge, it will not eat.. That said you should still only put bigger shrimps. Seahorse though do not eat bigger shrimps, they will certainly try on moderately sized ones. It will do their suction thingy with their spout and that might stun and kill off the shrimp..

Why do we use "My 2 cents worth" when 1 cents are not legal tender in Singapore anymore? Shouldn't it be 5 cents worth?
