aiptasia. These corals are considered pests as they can take over your tank if not eliminated and sting your other corals to death.

Get rid of them. Some ideas: commercialised aiptasia removers like joe's juice, peppermint shrimp (not 100% effective), copperband butterfly (they absolutely adore them, but these fishes are not easy to wean to processed food).

Or you can epoxy them to death. Fellow reefer told me this is v. effective method.

Aptasias are anemones.

If your tank is fish-only, then it doesn't matter. Some fishes loves to eat them: Auriga, Copperband, etc...

If your tank had corals, these anemones will outgrow your corals and sting them to death.

if you can handle them yourself, save the money in getting peppermint, cos once there are other food source, they are unlikely to work.....unless u find one true vegetarian.....lol.

As I said, it'll NOT do any harm to your fishes. So getting rid of them is purely on aesthetic considerations.

If you are not bothered by them, just leave them alone. Else, take out your rock and inject them with boiling water. This is the cheapest way. Do not try to pluck/scrape them. You might end up propagating them as any leftover tissue has the potential to become another Aptasia.

Not advisable to get peppermints as they might not touch the bigger Aptasias. There are other treatments like Joes Juice and Kalkesser. But boiling water is the cheapest.

Again, if you are not bothered by them, you can choose to leave them alone.

Ah I see. Thinking of getting Joe Juice and peppermint shrimp;

As the last count, there are about 9 aiptasia in my tank at the moment!

Bro if your tank is still in cycling stage, don't need to invest in peppermint shrimps tt might not work. Many other options to get rid of them :)

Use concentrated(with water) kalkwasser and inject directly at them. This was what I did last time

2ft cube with 2.5 sump

400w MH with 6 x 24w blue T5

Hydor wavemaker controller

Aquatronica controller

Daikin compressor with double coil

RM CR

H&S out sump skimmer

paiseh... I have poor memory :paiseh:

Then can use the chemical method (Joe's juice, kalkwasser, etc.)

Or if you intend to keep copperband can keep a lookout for a good and healthy specimen. :)

just take out your epoxy and patch over it completely. that will do the work.

next time just place a coral of it to hide the epoxy. :)

Eqpt: Deltec MCE 600, Tunze 6055 with Tunze 7091 controller, Artica 1/15 HP chiller, AquaIllumination Sol Blue LED Light System

2011 resolution : Do it simpler, better and in an easier way!
