Planaria worm??

I notice many small specs (seriously small dots) on the glass wall.

Previously I have this outbreak in large numbers and it causes the fish to scratch against the rocks.

I had initially thought it is ick. I lowered the salinity (did not improve the condition), removed all rock and sand for 2 months... everything went fine and now i see it coming back.

Anyone one had this encounter before? It had kill one of my regal before and copper is the last option i would want to consider.

planaria worms are pretty long and unique so its hard to mistake them for pods.

If you have them it shows your tank is matured and also theres quite a lot of uneaten leftover food.

Once they decide to multiply you will see never ending population of them. The eggs can trap in filter medias and sand beds.

But marine fishes do love to feast on this worm.

Planaria has a bacteria infested skin that can cause irritation to fishes and even human upon touch.

I used this solution called vermex for my freshwater setups. I am not sure if its reef safe but i am pretty sure the fishes and invertebrates will not be affected.
