True... did you do a 50% water change at the end of the cycle? We did that and subsequently the nitrate has been about 5ppm or less iirc.

No i haven't.

I'm keeping FOWLR, so i can afford the nitrate to go a bit higher...

I'm looking at this product call Right Now! Bacteria. It claims to be able to cultivate bacteria that seems to be able to remove Nitrate and Phosphates... its not expensive. I am just wondering if it is available locally.

ic.. i think you should do the water change 1st... usually recommended for after recycling.. After that, your nitrates shd stay low and normal water top up will do..

I saw that product.. not sure where got sell... by Daryl.. is selling some vials (Prodibio) which will reduce nitrates etc also.. similar function.. check out the pasar malam section.

nice... no dead spot :)

just blast the Vortech :)

yah... the light is hung quite high now. The hanging kit don't quite work for me. I need the old kit that comes with the G1 lights. If i can get that, the lights will be hung a good 5 inches lower. By then, both ends might have some dark spots.

The MP10 is running 100% reef mood, and it is sounding like a 500cc motorbike.

i'll looking to see if anyone is willing to swap it with me for a MP40 Gen 2 though...

I only wish i have a tank as good (and big) as yours.

yah.. i wasn't sure about the PT to be honest... but i read a few website, they seems to think it is okay.

I reserve this place for a carpet... i really want to try a carpet at some point of time...

Me too ! I love carpet Anemone! Saw one in AM before and fall in love with it!

As PT, i used to have 7 x YT and 3 x PT living in a 4 FT tank before.

Its okay one. Just need some tricks...

why give up? is it really that hard to keep? i read about how difficult it is to maintain one alive, but at the same time, the advanterous part of me wants to try! I wasn't even planning the tank to have any think other than LR and Fish in the beginning... ha ha

let me contact Henry and check with him.

nice bro!

your flow confirm ok for 3 feet tank as i am using eheim 1262 return for 5x2x2.5 :paiseh:

I think Eheim 1262 for a 5x2x2.5 is a bit too weak

My Setup:

3x2x2 tank with IOS

Equipment List:

Chiller: Artica 1/5HP

Chiller Pump: Sicce 4000

Return Pump: OR3500

Skimmer: Deltec APF600

Wavemaker: Tunze Wavebox/2x Hydor K2/SCWD wavemaker

Lights: DElighting 2x150W MH + 2x 39W T5 Atinic

FR: Skimz

FR Pump: Atman AT-104

Tubby ATO, Kalkweisser Reactor with magnetic stirrer.

Actually...

1262 is okay for a 3 feet... but i am facing this problem...

When i use a single outlet from the return pump. the current is a bit too strong...

But when i use a T split, the current is too weak.

As my wave maker seems a little unpowered for the tank, i decided against using the T split. I try to leave with a bit of sandstorm in the tank. I hope the fishes can get use to it.

What tricks?

Teach leh

Easy tricks that i have tested and proven. Nothing fancy and "storeless"...

1.) Size

You must 1st settle for a much bigger/fiercer new Tang that you want to add, when you have existing tang in your tank.

example.

Existing YT 1", you must select equal or bigger tang when adding. Ie, 1" or Bigger PT. or a fiercer Sohal tang smaller than YT.

This is subjectives to individual character and fitness of each tang.

Size of tank also important.

2.) Territorial

Tangs are territorial. They will vent off any intruders esp similar species.

Personally, i have a much smaller Brown tang that will fight off YT and PT that intruded into its territory.

Hence, before adding new Tangs, be it smaller or gentler, change the territoral scape.

Then add the new member(s).

Take this chance to rescrape!

:eyebrow:

3.) Health

Health of new member(s) have to be good as well.

Even if its a fiercer species, if it cannot substain, nothing else to say.

Test whether its eating or not at LFS 1st.

Test with the food that you normally feed in your own tank.
