Cycling Process Problem

Can anyone advise me what happen to my tank during the 3rd day of cycling? What are these debris thingy clouding my tank? Help!

Could be my skimmer problem?

my first reef aquarium 15jan2010

3x2x2ft EOS 10mm tank with sump//deltec sc2060 skimmer//arctica 1/10hp chiller

maxpect g2 170w led//vortech mp40w wavemaker//eheim 1262 universal pump

eheim compact+ 3000 chiller pump//caribsea ocean direct live sands 40lbs

and other misc...

switch off your skimmer and see if the bubbles go away.

BTW during cycling, do not to switch on skimmer, also remove carbon.

switch off your skimmer and see if the bubbles go away.

BTW during cycling, do not to switch on skimmer, also remove carbon.

Hi bro,

These are micro bubbles, there are quite common in new set up due to the following reasons:

1) Air bubbles trap in new pipeworks - will diminish after some time.If problem persist, check pipe joints to ensure that are properly siliconed or white taped.

2) Air bubbles created by skimmer being sucked into return pump - Add foam as bubble trap at the skimmer exit, add baffles plates between skimmer and return or shift skimmer slightly so that skimmer exit does not face return directly

3) Vortex created by return pump - Caused by the suction of a powerful return pump, try to increase the water level or use an elbow joint pointed downwards at the pump inlet to minimize sucking water from the top of the water column

Thank you very much :) It was snowing badly last night and this morning is better after increase the water level. Didnt realise the water dried up so fast..

Thank you very much :) It was snowing badly last night and this morning is better after increase the water level. Didnt realise the water dried up so fast..
