It's very interesting to see that there's a kind of brown algae that likes growing in the high flow area near the outlet of the Stream. Dip that sucker in vinegar and enjoy the look of 'new' Streams in the tank. At the minimum you MUST clean the grating or the flow will be decreased.

How much vinear should be used ??? n will normal household pure vinegar do the job??

If you can't get hold of pure acetic acid then the next safest and best bet will be to use cooking vinegar. Give the grating a light scrub to remove the slime and submerge the thing into warm vinegar. Don't dilute unless it is pure acetic acid.
