Anybody knows how this thing works or if has a spare to let go or where to get it?

My chiller display buttons are not functioning anymore.. the numbers are still there though.. not sure if they can be fixed if i try to open it up.

Will these external thermostats controller overwrite the current chiller display thermostats?

thanks!.. not too good with chillers :<

Hi KY,

You don't have to remove and dismantle anything from your current chiller.

* Most external controller will be wired between the main power supply and a power supply socket

* The chiller will be plug into this power supply socket instead of the main power supply (wall socket)

* A probe will be connected to the external controller

* When the temperature climbs above the pre-set, the external controller will supply power to the socket and thereby the chiller will start running

* When the temperature lowered to the pre-set, the external controller will cut supply to the socket and thereby the chiller stop running

Hope that helps.

Ya wat gouldian said is right but only meant for those which are still working with the existing controller (means once u on ur power of the chiller the compressor still cut on)

if urs is not working even u power on then u've to re-wire it

Hi Bro Gouldian,

Does this type of external controller harms the mechanisms in the chiller? I wondering if the chiller has some 'proper-shut off' mechanism that prolongs the life of the equipment.

Cheers,

I think it might for certain chillers. Sometimes the chiller will let the fan runs a few more minutes to cool down the compressor further.

Dont think there are such function. The compressor is cooled by the refrigerant itself. If the superheat is properly adjusted, the compressor will cool adequately. The fan is only for cooling the condensing coil and does nothing for the compressor.

thanks for the input so far

is a relay needed to further control the voltage going into to the external controller to prevent it from fusing?

or the original wires from the chiller is enough... afraid to connect the wrong ones but its always good to learn...

as mentioned in 1st post.. the existing controller has the temp set but i cant adjust it. Power on it turns on.. its set at 18 so it goes on and on and on...

i intend to remove the usage of the existing controller totally..

i understand u guys using the wire connected to the female socket is due to the existing controller still in use...

do i still need to attach the new external controller to a female socket then plug in the chiller? and yes the addition of a relay too?

Hi KY,

* No further relays needed

* Plug the external temp controller directly into the wall socket

* Set the temperature

* Plug the chiller plug into external controller socket

If your chiller temperature setting is stuck at lower that desired temperature, the above method will work well without you needed to de-comm the old controller.

Hi Stephen,

Most sensitive electronics may need "soft start and stop" function to ensure longer life span. But I don't think the chiller electrical wirings and performance may suffer from such overwrite. The part that is likely to be affected with the the chiller temp controller but this is usually redundant once the external controller is in play.
